I'm with you Lisa on the excuses. Walking in the mall would be cooler, but I guess I like seeing the trees and flowers and such when I'm walking. And when I can I like to take a dog with me. I really hope my cooler weather is getting close and that today isn't just to taunt me. I really hate to hear you are expecting 115. I don't think I would last long in AZ. I'm afraid I would melt or spontaneously combust. hehe. How can they tell if anyone has a fever and the virus or has just been outside too long? I'll bet that was beautiful hiking the Grand Canyon. I got to see the Grand Canyon briefly when driving through with a friend. I would have loved to stay and see more of it. Are there any easy hikes there or are most a pretty good elevation change? Dee, thankfully I did not see any snakes on the hike. Benches would have been nice. There is another hike in that area that is a more gentle trail. It was an old railroad bed. So not as steep. I probably should have invited the others on that one, but thought the one we did might not be known as well and not as busy. The greenway near my house goes through a park on one end. They have benches spread out in the park. Some good shade there, too. Your weather today sounds better than mine. Think it was mid 60s this morning and mid 80s this afternoon. Felt nice when I went out to feed the birds this morning. It hasn't felt as humid today either, which helps about as much as the cooler temp. Speaking of herding, Pippi likes to try and herd the cats in from the sun porch. BOL Carol, I hope you and your husband have a nice relaxing week. Nice to have some time off. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Good morning everyone Happy Sunday love the banner Anick I am so glad they did the testing and let you know about it before you gave Teddy any flea and tick medication Carol that is good you are just relaxing this weekend so Marvin can catch up on his sleep he did a great job on that computer table for you so he deserves his rest Lisa yes Cindy took care of her mom and it hit her hard when she died she was very close to her mom. Oh Devan called me yesterday when at Rosemarie house to thank me for the book I asked if she read it she said no. I said she sounded sleepy she said yes I believe Jerry made her call me to thank me for the book. I didn't get to play cards by the time Di got home we only had time for 3 games of Kismet I won 2 of them and 2 games of Triominos I won one of them. I had to leave to go feed Tori and work on the pink pocket shawl which today when I get back will start on the border hoping to be able to mail it to the person on Tuesday Laura you asked in another thread if I had another project ready my daughter in law asked me if I could crochet a hat for her granddaughter to wear for a Halloween costume so I guess I will work on it before I do the tan pocket shawl for Miss Dixie Monroe. The hat is a chicken hat Rosemarie made me a little upset yesterday she has had a $5.68 check from her drugstore for a couple weeks could have had Di cash it for her as Di goes to the bank frequently but after we did our grocery shopping she said she needed to go to the bank and cash the check I said we can go to Independence I know where the bank is there but insisted on going to the one in Richwood said she knew the way so I said fine Richwood is further so I went she told me when I got off the highway to turn right which I did but the road she wanted me to take was closed then went a detour finally got back to the road that went back to highway when she realized she should have told me to turn left instead of right I was ready to get on the highway and go home but she said no keep going straight the bank is up there. So we got to the bank she got her check cashed and asked for gift envelopes but they don't carry them anymore. She needs to get 20 gift envelopes given each of her grandchildren for Christmas a $50 bill. Di gave her all the $50 from going to the bank the day before (Rosemarie never gave her the check to cash). They told her to try other banks in the area they may have some so now she is thinking of me taking her to Independence. I don't go to her house on Monday as I visit Ward. Hugs Dee & Tori

Dee, that chicken hat is cute. And if it's for a young child it will really be cute. I hope they will send you a picture of the child wearing it. Oh how frustrating on the extra running around for the bank ... and for less than $6. Ugh. I finally got Pippi and Cheeky out for a walk in the park today. First time in quite a while. It was cooler this morning and felt great. Cheeky surprised me and was still doing well at half a mile, but I picked her up and carried her the rest of the way anyway. I didn't want her to over do it. Pippi slowed down a little before the end of the walk (1.9 miles). I probably should have done a shorter one and eased her into it. It actually seemed to energize her later in the day ... when I was ready for a nap. hehe. I got a little work done in the yard, too, but then it started warming up too much. Sigh. Hopefully fall weather is just around the corner. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Good morning everyone Happy Monday and Happy Labor Day Anick I saw your finished shawl on Facebook wow what a great job it is so beautiful. How is Teddy doing he is in our prayers Carol yes Marvin did a good job that desk should hold up pretty good. Did the medicine the vet drop off help Molly and her drippy poop. Lisa I am going to ask her if they send her a picture of her granddaughter wearing it to share with me. She won't be wearing it till Halloween. I finished the shawl mailing tomorrow for Marsha Gay so I started on the chicken hat have the white done except for the braided ties as the pattern said see picture below for doing braids but there was no picture I contacted the seller asking if she could send me a picture of how to do the braiding if not then I will just do a chain tie. I ordered the red yarn so won't finish it till the red yarn arrives. I will be starting the shawl for Miss Dixie Monroe this evening. Laura glad you took cheeky and pippi for a walk your picture looks great not blurry to me. You asked in another thread what project I enjoyed doing I like the shawl I sent my sister but I enjoy doing any new project I start I do tend to get bored doing the same thing or working on a long blanket. Leslie how are you eyes doing are they better. Taking Rosemarie to Richwood to her bank was frustrating as Independence Bank is closer I told her I don't like the traffic and congestion in Richwood due to construction but her comment I want to go to Richmond it is a holiday weekend not much traffic but there was and road construction was worse then her comment with this road construction I got twisted around. Me if I was riding with someone and they were willing to take me to my bank I would not care which town whatever would be convenient for them but she is stubborn wants to do things her way. She could have done better by just letting her daughter take it to the bank and cash it when she went to get all the $50 out for Rosemarie. Rosemarie knew she was going to the bank but figured she would just have me take her to cash the check. Well today is visitation day for Ward and glad the weather is clear outside. Hugs Dee & Tori

Teddy is being very picky, we were told to not let him win and to give him only his food and that is what we do now. He did eat half his breakfast this morning and all his food last evening so maybe we will win this will power fight! A few years ago not many Border Collie had the gene but it is getting more common as time goes by. Good breeders are now saying to not take any chances and most vets agree with that approach too and it is forcing drug companies to make research on safe drugs now and that is good for all breeds. Yes, I did finish, FINALLY, the shawl yesterday, it as taken a lot longer to do then I was thinking it would!

Lisa, the dogs and I haven't really done any walks all summer. Just too hot and it's not even as hot here and what you are dealing with. I would be afraid Clarabelle would burn her feet getting out now. We had low 60s yesterday morning and I was loving it. Looks like it is going to warm back up a bit, but I am hoping the fall like weather will be back and stay soon. Sigh. Will you be able to walk with Clarabelle this winter? To get her used to the leash could you walk with her and do some things around the house? I have to laugh when I think about that. Years ago when Pippi and I were in classes she could heel. We had worked on it in stores (Petsmart, Home Depot and Lowes) and at home in the house and she had gotten quite good and sitting right next to me as soon as I stopped walking. She never would heel outside though. Too many interesting smells to entice her. And I didn't practice it with her outside the way I did inside. Now, I don't know if she remembers it at all. We haven't worked on it in a long time. I should have kept that up. Outside though I hated to make her stay by my side. I felt she should be able to explore her world around her. Dee, I tend to like new projects, too. I get bored doing the same thing over and over. So I can relate. I don't know how you did all those baby cocoons. You get to a point where you feel you are being taken advantage of (thinking of the bank), don't you? I have felt that way with a few people lately and it's frustrating. It's a sunny day here. Sounds like you got the same weather. Hope you have a good visit with Ward and he will be more awake today. If he is sleeping again, could you maybe change the time of your visit and ask them when is a time he might be more likely to be awake? I really wish you could hold his hand and give him a . I have an aunt in GA who is in assisted living. She has had several medical appointments lately. Every time she leaves the building and comes back she has to go into a two week quarantine and isn't allowed out of her room except when they are cleaning the room. Then she can sit in the hall. She said it seems no sooner is her two weeks up and then she has another appointment and has to have another two week quarantine. Anick, hopefully you will win the battle of the will power. Sounds encouraging that Teddy at half his breakfast and all his dinner. Fingers he is about to get back to his normal eating routine. I saw your shawl on facebook, too. Just lovely. Was that a variegated yard or different shades of yarn? I'm guessing different shades to have it come out right. Has anyone got any special plans for Labor Day? Nothing here. Catch up on a little laundry and dishes. Other than that hoping to enjoy some time playing music and reading a little. This morning the temp was nice again, but warmed up quickly and the temps going up the rest of the week. Boo. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Happy Labor Day!! Molly did have a very small poo poo this morning, so hoping thats a start. Hubby and I replace an old wooden 3 step steps with cement blocks this morning and moved an old peony bush. A lady friend brought me another Rose of Sharon bush, so got that planted. So that is all the extra work for the week LOL!! I did get a start of the lilac bush I gave my daughter 15 yes ago and I'm hoping it and the bushes and flowers grow even bigger next year. Now my hubby is free to enjoy his week off work But you all know a womans work is never done so... LOL!!

Good morning everyone Happy Tuesday Anick I am sure Teddy will eventually get back to just eating his food when you guys just stick to that. I loved the shawl I think you said it was variegated yarn but pretty neat how it turned out. Did you have to switch yarns, You should feel proud of yourself it is so amazing looks like a professional. Laura I was going crazy doing 100 cocoons and then he wanted me to do more I said no I have other projects to work on. My only plan for Labor Day was visiting Ward and the visit was good he was awake but he tried to talk but hard to hear since we were outside and not allowed next to him and the guy was cutting the grass so loud lawnmower. The aid cut his hair on sunday and shaved him so he did look good. I finished the pink shawl mailing it today to Marsha Gay and have started on the beige shawl for Miss Dixie Monroe have 35 rows done and I have the white part of the chicken hat done but waiting for red yarn and poly fill to arrive so I can finish it up and take to Lisa. I order my yarn instead of to Florence to buy it. Sometimes the shelves are bare and a wasted trip. I did reserve my hot air balloon ride for sunrise at 7:30 am on October 30. Toby hoping your mommy and you had a good day yesterday and her eyes are improving. Carol that is cool you changed the steps from wood to concrete. That was nice of your friend to bring you a Rose of Sharon bush. Lisa how are you and the pups Kathy how are you and Stephen Marty how are you and your family Hugs Dee & Tori

I did indeed use variegated yarn, 2 balls of it. Each goes from light blue to dark blue over a 800 yard distance. I did start the first ball using the light blue going toward the dark blue and the second ball going from the dark blue toward the light blue.It just happen that the colour changes did happen in the right places, I got lucky on that one.
I love Rose of Sharon bush but they don't do well here. Some people manage to have them but I did fail, my yard get too much of the arctic winds before getting enough of a snow cover to protect them in winter.
Ward really look good this week, the visit must have been a lot more enjoyable for you !

Yes Ward looks very good!! And the shawl is so beautiful!! I saw on yahoo, I think that we could have a mild winter. I hope so but who knows till we get to winter. The thunderstorm we had around 2AM watered everything pretty good. Carol, Molly & Pooks

Hooray that Papa Ward was awake for your visit yesterday! Sorry about the mower, though. Someone is removing a tree near us, so I understand about the noise.
That shawl is very pretty! I bet Marcia is going to love it.
Teddy, how is your appetite today? What about you, Tango? Are you feeling OK?
Another mild winter? That would have some advantages. I wonder how bad our bugs would be if we had two warm winters in a row?
Mommy is slowly feeling better. Heat still bothers her, so cooking is very uncomfortable.

Hi everyone! I am SO relieved that my boyfriend didn't go visit his mom in South Dakota yet!! She lives not too far from Sturgis and even though he said he wasn't going to go, he was taking his motorcycle! There are now 250,000 cases of COVID 19 linked to that rally!! He is still planning to go, just isn't ready yet! Laura, good point about the ground being too hot!! When the dogs go outside, they run to the shade or the grass!! Carol, you are so right! Even when we have a vacation, we have to do all the cooking, cleaning, cooking, etc! Leslie, we almost always have mild winters, but we sure pay for it in the summer! This morning was all overcast and I was so excited thinking we were going to get rain. Then found out it was the fires from CA. Dee and Anick, your shawls are so pretty! Marsha will love that pink one! Anick, that is amazing how the patterns came out so perfect!! Gorgeous!!
