The white German Shepard was a beauty. Last month the Humane Shelter picked up our icky neighbors dog. They have lived here for 1 year. They constantly let him roam. Well the dad and youngest son moved out, the oldest son got sent away and the mom and daughter still live there. One day the dog was tied out on their railing and he got tangled around the hedge. I never saw him and he didn't make a sound. Well someone across the street in the Apt complex called the Shelter and they came out and did take the dog. I called a couple days later. I described to the guy on the phone and he knew the dog I meant. He said they would never get the dog back(they did a few other times) and that he would get adopted. I said Thank God and also said a prayer for him. He seem to be a good dog just wanted attention. Carol, Molly & Pooks

Lisa, I always felt like I was the lucky one that got to give Dutchess and Pixie their homes. Pixie was picked up by animal control as a stray and never claimed. Dutchess, well I lived in fear for a while that her family would decide they wanted her back. I know their situation made it where they couldn't keep her. We became facebook friends so they could see how she was doing. She had never been out and around other dogs before coming to live with me. And then she got to do group dog walks and hikes. She had a good home before that loved her, but I'm glad I got to love her, too. Don't know about where Pixie had been before, but glad I got to love her, too. She was a cuddle bug. Leslie about the Bell's Palsy. I hope the chiropractor will be able to help. That would be nice not to have to take medication. If the chiropractor isn't enough are there many other treatment options for controlling it? I had a friend who found changes in the barometric pressure (up or down) set his off. I feel my arthritis when the pressure drops. His seemed to be more a reaction to a change more than any particular numbers. Dee, you are right. Having a connection to the history you are learning about does make a difference. Oh I hate to hear you have to wait longer for Dallas. Doesn't your nephew know we all can't wait to "meet" this dog?!! hehe. Hmm. That is awkward about your nephew possibly wanting to stay a week. Maybe you can point out that you do a lot to help Rosemarie and that you can't while you have any company because of the health risks. Maybe not even point out that you will wait two weeks after they leave, but just focus on saying you can't while they are there. And if your brother isn't staying the week, too, I don't think it is bad to say you feel a little awkward with just your nephew staying. I know your sister has done a lot to help you, but surely she can understand that. Fingers that he doesn't even ask to stay. Anick, wow - 1600. That is neat to be able to trace back that far. The Australian history is my brother-in-law. My sister and I were commenting that we don't know much further back than the Civil War. We have both said we need to see what we can find further back. I know my mom's side someone in the family had traced back to Scotland. My dad's side, we know they have been in west TN since the early 1800s if not longer. Carol, thank goodness someone saw the neighbor's dog get tangled up and called someone. How are the mom and daughter for neighbors? Are they a problem or have the problem members of the family all moved out? I wish I had had video of Pippi last night. From time to time she gets brief spurts of zoomies. She did last night and kept trying to get Inky to play. Inky didn't run, but often had a what the heck kind of look on his face. hehe. He got to where he would reach out and barely touch Pippi's snout as she would zoom by and spin near Inky and stop. Pippi was having a great time and Inky sure looked like at times he was tempted to get wild, too. Cheeky watched from a safe distance. hehe. No idea where Nimbus was or what he was up to. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Oh Laura, I can just see Miss Pippi doing that, and Inky tagging her as she ran past! What fun! Sparkle gets the zoomies and runs from the chair, to the couch to the other couch, to the chair, etc. It is so fun to watch, especially when she spins around!
Carol, I am so glad they rescued that poor pup and he will get adopted! I don't understand people like that, and they are the "good" ones! I had a white german Shepard when I was in my early 30s. Her name was Nikita (Nikki for short) and just the sweetest dog! I will have to post some pictures!
Leslie, I am SO sorry about the Bells Palsy! I sure hope you can find some holistic =remedies!!
Dee, how exciting about Dallas. I too, hope the nephew doesn't ask to live with you. If he does, and you feel like you have to say yes, make sure you write up a contract!!!
Anick, that is very cool about being able to trace your ancestors back to 1600!! I know my grandmother's nephew did some family research, but I don't have access to it. IU'd love to find out some more stuff!!

You all have such interesting ancestor stories to tell. I don’t think there is an interesting relative in my family tree. We have claimed such exciting posts as Town Drunk and Town Religious Zealot. That’s about it.
Dee, we will pray that your nephew doesn’t stay with you. Your life is just settling down; you don’t need that kind of uncertainty. I can’t wait to hear stories about your new puppy family!

Good morning everyone Happy Wednesday Anick I know Dallas had a sister just like her that died a few years back and there were a couple cats she lived with. Tori may have been an only child before she was rescued but coming to my place she had Sabrina and Abigale June and I know she feels lonely without them and am sure she will enjoy Dallas Ann as they are just a year apart as the vet papers said Dallas Ann is 8 years 3 months puts her being born March 2012 and Tori born April 2011. I called the vet to see how long they had been treating Dallas said when she brought her in May for UTI it was their first time seeing her they gave her all her shots that were due she is sending me the certificates said I won't need to call around to see who the previous vet was. She will send doctor notes as some mention as problems with eyes, hair matted, teeth need cleaning. I will have to get her in to the vet have blood work and urine to see if her UTI is over and if there are any problems we are not aware of. My sister said she is sweet her and her dog finally playing together just takes her a couple days to adjust but also told me let her know what she needs done at the vets and she will pay for it. Just to make sure she is okay. I will definitely post pictures. Anick we had our family tree done by a relative I talked to him years ago a cousin but he was starting to write a book never finished it he died. Ours went back quite a bit but not 1600 our ancestors came from Ireland during the Potato famine. That was my mothers side was harder with my dad they were farmers and most records were not marked had babies at home. I don't know if my ancestors did anything exciting Leslie I don't intend to have my nephew stay here. My brother lives in Ohio he can stay with him and look for a job there I can't wait for the puppy either Laura that is funny with Pippi doing zoomies. I had to laugh the other day Tori was on the couch next to me all of a sudden jumps off takes off to the kitchen I thought she was going to want outside but then runs from the kitchen grabs her toys and jumps back up on the couch and I play with her with the toy. Then I tell her all about Dallas and how nice we have to be when she gets here told her she wasn't going to be lonely anymore. Lisa I am excited can't wait for her to get her. When I take in the bag yard I will walk her with leash since she is small I don't want her to the far end of the yard and a big bird come down after her so I will just walk her around the front part of the back yard. Carol I am so glad your neighbors dog not going back to them and will be adopted your story reminded me of our neighbor before when we lived where Jerry lives but way before we moved to Florida. He had a sweet dog but while he was working his wife tethered the dog out on a pole and a hot day but when Ward got home from work before me him and Jerry were sitting in the front yard noticed the dog on the tether said he looked like he hung himself and just when I got home then they told me what happened because when the man got home from work saw his dog on the tether and died he was screaming and chewing his wife out for putting him out like that. Marty how is Hershey doing Kathy how is Stephen Well I finished the crochet Chicken Hat I am not pleased with the comb so I doubt if they use it but I will give it to them. Here is a picture you can tell it is not good. I set it on an M & M Dispense to see how it would look like on a head Hugs Dee & Tori

Lisa, Pippi does a lot of her zooming just on the bed (especially after I have just put on clean sheets and made the bed - sigh). So she doesn't go far and it involves a lot of spins and short little hops and such with her front end down and the back end up. She romps up to Inky and spins. Inky bobs her. She spins a couple of times. Inky bobs her and she romps to the other side of the bed. And then they do it again. I love seeing it especially as she has aged. Good to see them feeling good enough to be playful and spunky. Lisa, please do post a picture of Nikki if you come across one. I'll bet she was a beauty. Leslie, well, on the one hand I'm not sure convicted thief is any better than town drunk or religious zealot. BOL. But it is interesting to look back and see. The one relative I know that was in the Civil War is an interesting story. I wish you could hear my grandfather tell it. He does so much better than I do, but I'd like to share it anyway. This relative fought at the battle of Shiloh (in west TN) and was shot - hit in the jaw. He was buried in a shallow trench grave. They came through inspecting the graves a bit later and saw two fingers sticking up wiggling. It was him. They dug him up and got him to the field hospital. They had to remove part of his lower jaw on one side. He lived for years past the war. We have a picture of him. My grandfather said he always wore a beard to help cover where his face was sunken in from the missing part of jaw. So that's my most interesting family history. Dee, with your hair and eye coloring I'm not surprised to hear you have some Irish in your background. A lot of people think I have Irish heritage, but mine is Scottish. Dee, how nice that your sister has offered to pay vet bills so you can get Dallas Ann checked out and make sure nothing going on. I'll bet both Tori and Dallas will be glad to have a dog buddy again. I know Pippi would be lost without another animal in the house. Oh I can't wait for Sunday. It won't get here fast enough. That's too funny Tori running and grabbing her toy. Maybe she is getting excited about Dallas, too. Is Tori good about sharing toys? Pippi is not. Min Pins are knows as the King of the Toys and she certainly seems to take that to heart. She has a hard time not thinking ALL the toys are hers. Wish I knew how to help her more with that. Dee, I think the chicken hat is cute. And it will be fun for the child. Did you tell us this is going to be part of a Halloween costume? It was nice out this morning. A little cooler and less humid feeling. So the four legged crew and I spent a little time on the sun porch. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

The neighbor woman and daughter don't say a word to anyone. See them come and go sometimes. But when the mom, dad 2 boys and girl were together there someone was always calling the police. Better now.

We also have “notoriously irresponsible parent”in our lineage.
There are a bunch of people in the area who have the same surname as me, but we aren’t technically related. Evidently one of my male relatives had a relationship with a lady who wasn’t overly particular about the company she kept. When she found out she was pregnant, my male relative married the lady to give the child a name, but he never stuck around. The lady carried on other relationships and had other children who now all have the same name I do. It makes for interesting encounters when someone asks ‘Hey, are you related to.....”
What a cutie Nikki was!!

Wow Laura your uncle shot in the jar and buried for dead good thing someone was going afterwards and saw his fingers wiggle so he could be uncovered and tell his story. Carol we are glad things are better in your neighborhood since the dad and boys are gone Anick glad to hear Teddy doing better Marty glad to hear you got clear skies for you and Hershey to walk Miss Dixie Monroe received her pocket shawl and loved it even her best friend loved it and wants one the same color so I started last night working on her pocket shawl. That Civil war story is some good story!!! Nothing that exciting in my family. Us we know that all Pelletier are related and it is often entertaining to find out how because, until now, every generations had big families and lots of widows were remarried. I remember when I was young and we did a big party for my Grandfather, he was turning 80 years old, and all his decedents and his cousins and their kids were invited too there was 200 people at the party.
Dee, I think your chicken hat is very cute!!!!

Lisa, Nikki was a beauty! Are white German Shepards common? My relative in the Civil war was my great, great grandfather. That was my father's side of the family. I suspect there were some that fought on mom's side of the family, too, but don't really know. My paternal grandfather used to talk about the family history a lot. Wow Anick. That would have been neat to have that many relatives together. My maternal grandfather is one of 12 children. Got a rainy day here and I'm already sleepy and ready for a nap. hehe - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Laura, I forgot to say what an incredible Civil War story you had to tell! I guess it was a good thing coffins were in short supply.
I believe both on my grandmothers were from families with 12 children as well. How?!. How?!?

Gosh, twelve kids! That is overwhelming!! My dad was one of 8 and that was more than enough!
Dee, that hat is so cute! If you aren't giving it away, maybe Tori or Dallas will wear it! Hee hee!!
Laura, I'm trying to find info about white German shepherds and I did find they are MORE rare, but I can't find anything more exact!
Leslie oh wow! Nothing like being sort of related to everyone!!
Anick, we MIGHT have interesting stories, but if we do, we are woefully unaware of them!
Carol, how are the kids doing? Are they back at school? We keep hearing such scary stories!!
