Twinkle (My Sweet Angel) glad mom is feeling some improvement with her knee. I'm sure the doctor that ordered the PT could help figure out where mom could go for that. Milo Blue Eyes I hope Pa will regain some strength and endurance. My pawpaw is doing some PT right now to help him regain some strength and endurance. So far he says it just wears him out. Our a/c has been kicking on some, but luckily not running non-stop yet. We'll see this weekend. Looks like 90 Saturday, and 92 by Tuesday. Hope it stops there and goes back down some! And gosh I hope the humidity isn't bad. My mom is like yours - can't breathe with the humidity and she doesn't like to be sticky either. Ooohhh Charly that sounds like a fun game. willy ought to do good with this one. As much as I like to think I am a big dog, I do have a small mouth. Well, bigger than Cheeky's. UsurpingToby did you mom find the PT helped any with her knee? And have the lifestyle changes helped? Hope so. Go down stairs backwards? Oh my. You tell her to be careful doing that! DALLAS sometimes my mom will take the stairs rather than an elevator for the exercise, too. Ohhh, you and Dallas are having a spa day. Mom did my nails the other day. She needs to take Cheeky and get hers done. Oh my goodness ... bacon shell tacos? What a great idea! * Grabs a few and lines up next to willy *

UsurpingToby- Mommy never wears heels. She always wears sneakers or goes barefoot. She doesn't have any stairs where she lives. She never used the stairs when she worked unless the elevator was broken. She's worked from home since 3/20/20, so she doesn't have to walk far to get from Point A to Point B inside her house. She could do a better job of not carrying heavy things. She does need to clean out her purse. When your mom first found out she had this, how long did it take for the pain to go away & does she still have trouble alot? Wow, bad attitude or must want a boyfriend huh? The bad attitude part I can perhaps see because people tend to speed walk, stomp their feet & do things of that nature when they are upset that could put excess pressure on the joints. I don't see how wanting a boyfriend could have anything to do with it. Actually I would think having a boyfriend would make you worse. You'd be walking while on dates. Who knows what positions you both could find yourselves in otherwise that could bother your knee? I'll quit while I'm ahead. @tori- The steroids she got was both a shot in her left hip & some pills. willy- I am in line to fart!

My mommy always wears tennis shoes/Skechers or Flip Flops . We have stairs to go upstairs with 13 steps and stairs to go down in the basement. Just a few our the doors to get outside. Sometimes mommy knees hurt but it's just getting older and using her legs/feet a lot.

I’m here for the contest! Are we being judged on volume or rankness?
Twinkle, I’m sure the therapy helped mom in some way, but it didn’t help her pain levels during or immediately after the course of treatment. When she had PT, they were very big on icing. I can understand the philosophy, but in the real world mom found that heat worked better. At PT, they said cycling would be a good/safe activity, but she found it was irritating; walking is better. You’re right that anything that put stress on the joint is really bad for this condition. Sadly, it took years for her to get good at managing things even after PT. At the first sign of trouble, use anti-inflammatories to keep the swelling down. Use either ice or heat (whichever you find works best for you) to help with swelling. Keep you leg elevated and slightly bent as much as you can. If you sit at a chair, don’t sit on one leg or bend your knees so that your feet are under the chair. Even now if mom hurts herself, it can take months before the swelling is down and she feels comfortable again. One thing they did at PT that might have helped the most was teaching mom to walk straight ....not duck-footed or pigeon-toed. They had her practice walking with her feet lined up on the grout between the tiles on the floor. That helps to reduce the wear on the joint. Oh, if your car has bucket seats, that cat hurt you too. Consider getting a wedge cushion so that your knees and hips are at the same level.

Growing up mom had a lot of trouble with her knees. She found swimming or water aerobics or just walking in water to be more comfortable than anything else for some exercise. Hmm. And my mom walks duck footed. Milo Blue Eyes tossing the laundry down in a bag sounds much safer than going down backwards with a basket. My mom does much better about walking in cooler weather and struggles to get much in when it's hot and humid. That darn humidity is the worst. Cheeky and I can't really take the heat and humidity any more either. My mom didn't sleep well last night either. I think a bunch of the parents could have been up and chatting in the middle of the night last night since they were awake anyway. hehe. Do they make bigger bags that Pa could use? That would be nice so he could sleep better. That might make him feel better during the day, too, if he got a good night sleep. Isn't it amazing how quickly people can get out of shape and how long it takes to regain that strength and endurance. Not fair. Oh look. I get to be first in line for the food. Bonus! Thanks Milo!

As gross as it sounds, Milo, Alpo makes the best farts. Got any Alpo tacos? I’ll have an enchilada and a choklit shake to get started. Thanks!
Mommy’s life was turned upsidedown for years because of this knee condition. By now she is so used to the adaptations that people don’t realize she has a problem at first.

Good morning everyone Happy Thankful Thursday Willy thank you for serving us the food. Willy we are both standing next to you for the farting contest Pippi so sorry your mommy has knee problems Twinkle glad the PT is helping mommy one has to be careful some type of PT can be harmful instead of beneficial Pooks your mommy sounds like she has the steps like me down to the basement and a few to go outside. Toby sorry your mommy had so much knee problems but has adapted to the problems and so nice of your mommy to share information with others having knee problems Milo Blue Eyes thanks for all the delicious food and drinks. No mommy changed her mind about Tacos figured they were too messy but she stopped at McDonalds got a double cheeseburger which she was able to eat in peace as we were at the groomers getting all groomed she picked us up at 4:30 said the house was so quite from 12 till then she missed us so much and she smelled our fur we smelled so good and were silky smooth Charly mommy sister is driving from New Jersey in August to pick mommy up and driving mommy to Florida to look for houses mommy is wishing the days would go quickly so she can go. Today no game playing as Di has to take her husband to his doctor and Rosemarie said we can grocery shop instead which is fine I need some groceries picking her up at 9 as have to be here at 12 for gas man will be coming between 12 and 4 to replace the gas heater. I have been blessed only problems I have with my knees is when I attend church and genuflect when everything is quiet they crack loudly everyone turns to look so embarrassing and that was happening when I was in my early 20's but no pain like you all are suffering.

UsurpingToby it sounds like you have done some research on foods and farts. Looks like we may have an expert in our midst. hehe Charly I don't have any trouble sleeping either. In fact I spend a good part of the day (and night) sleeping. Mom did get a little nap with us yesterday evening. And she says she could easily go back to sleep this morning. I thought the same thing. So I did. Don't know why mom doesn't. DALLAS thankfully mom's knees do much better these days than when she was growing up. Much of hers turned out to be food allergies. Hormones also likely played a role, and once we got mom spayed that helped, too. Mom keeps mentioning baths for me and Cheeky. I noticed she is not putting Inky and Nimbus through that. Why don't they have to have one, too? * Sneaks back for seconds. * Thanks Milo!

UsurpingToby - This all sounds like very good advice. I still can't figure out where to go for PT though. I sure wish I knew of people who live near me who have went & can help. I think the farting contest should be ranked on both. teddy- Since it was your idea, I'm giving you the green light to start the contest. Pippi- I know dairy is not really good for you. Mommy has cut way back on eating junky foods & eating & drinking alot of sugar. Any advice from anyone could help. I will take all I can get!
