Good morning everyone Happy Saturday Lisa the nursing home Cold Springs is owned by someone else and Jerry only went in to sign the papers so his mom is in there now I told him how the other nursing home is having open visitation outside he needs to inquire about visiting his mom outside I told him when he gets a chance to go back and see where the patients are let me know. The nursing home Ward is in and the one Jerry's Mom was in both are owned by Genesis. I tell you the one Ward is in is nasty I can't stand the smell in their when I visited before I always rolled him to the front reception area to get away from the smell. Stuff is on the floor they don't clean they say the cleaning people will get to it but who knows when the cleaning people come around to clean it up. I remember when I had the barber go in to cut his hair he wanted a broom to clean up the hair droppings they said just leave it there. The barber said he remembered when this place first opened up was really nice but it certainly has gone into the dumps. When they had to get Ward up to put him in a wheelchair they had me leave the room. I know from one time when I went to go with him to the doctors and they tried getting him out of bed he was putting up a fight and with me in the room they did not do anything bad. Who knows what they do when they make me leave the room. Carol since Bryan not having any luck with the jobs I guess Tracy is right just stay at home and help the boys with their e learning I hope Evan and Parker can get their computers that kids going to a different school turn them back in. They should have turned them in at the end of the school year so they could be checked out to make sure no problems. Laura how are you doing is your bite healed up yet Marty how is Hershey doing does he do good in the stroller Lisa what will you do while Chuck is gone for a couple weeks I hope he wears his mask just to be safe but if I know men if no one else is wearing one he won't/ Well I did 3 more rows yesterday on my shawl. Had to untangle the yarn. Three more and I will start the edging Toby how are you doing Hugs Tori & Dee

Marty Angels Hershey & Winkie I have not totally figured out the email notifications here. Sometimes I get emails letting me know my posts have been liked or I have been tagged and other times I don't. Glad you found us though. 2018 was a tough year for me. I was dealing with my uncle's end stages of leukemia, my aunt's inability to cope with it, the plumbing renovation nightmares, and my dad falling and fracturing the vertebrae in his neck and snowball effect that seemed to have on his health. There were so many days I felt like I was barely keeping my head above water. I'm glad I got a little bit of a break with 2019 in between before having to face 2020. And I'm sure glad I didn't have to go through all of that in 2020. I am really hoping 2021 is going to be a terribly boring year. BOL Dee, I'm so glad you are going to get to see Ward. I hope you will find him well. I wish you could give him a big while there, but I understand they are trying to keep everyone healthy and safe. Let's hope that is a good sign that his facility is doing better than where Jerry's mom was. Did he have any trouble getting his mom into a new facility? I can understand your concerns on why they ask you to leave the room when they put Ward in a wheel chair. That would raise red flags in my mind, but I am often bad to think the worse when there really is no reason to. Hopefully since they have only had 4 virus cases that does show they are being careful and doing a good job where the patients' health is concerned. Anick, it is a shame that the world can't band together to fight this virus. Good for Canada for being able to set politics aside! Let's hope in time everyone does come together more to work on a cure or vaccine. The idea that kids are super spreaders sounds more accurate to me. When you think about it kids (especially young kids) are less likely to wear a mask, or wear it properly if they do, less likely to cover their mouth when they cough, less likely to wash their hands more often, more apt to touch anything and everything, and young kids are more apt to things in the mouth. So it stands to reason that they are going to spread it. Statistics do seem to show they are not dying from it the way older people are, but they still get it and still spread it. Part of the neighbors comment with Covid and when they had the norovirus was they are young and healthy and it won't be a bad case if they get it. Will you take before and after pictures of the yard and flower beds you are redoing Anick? I'm sure that will feel good to have that job done. And it will be nice to enjoy more agility time at the club with Willy. I'm sure he will like that as well. Would you have typically traveled somewhere for vacation time? My sister and her family had planned to go to Scotland this year. They were going to do some hiking, but have had to push that back. They have been doing some day trips around their area or an occasional weekend to go hike not far from where they live. Funny thing about that. They will camp or they have stayed in some air B&B type things for some of those hiking trips. Yet when I asked if they could come here one weekend to help me with the ladder and moving the antenna my sister said they can't because they would have no place to stay. Now I give her credit for not wanting to stay with my parents and possibly bring something in to them. Although truth be told I honestly believe that was just a convenient excuse for her because she doesn't want to come help with things like that. I wanted to ask her if they can stay in places while camping why can't they stay some place around here, but I didn't. I just let it drop, and really wasn't surprised. Sigh. Then I get a call from my mom yesterday to tell me she and dad had moved the antenna. I was panicked when I heard that, but relieved to find out they didn't try to move any ladders and didn't get it very high up in the tree. Just what they could reach from standing. Sadly it still isn't working as dad needs it. So I may still have to go up a ladder and try and get it higher. Just wish I had someone other than my mother to help with moving the ladder and holding the ladder. She is a small person and frankly not much help. I am grateful for her willingness to try and help. Okay. Dee sounds like it won't be long until the shall is done. Can't wait for pictures. Is this one you are making for yourself? Carol, I'd say if Brian stays home and doesn't look for a job that will be good. Then you will have to do less watching of the kids and he can do it. I am so glad they have the option for elearning and think it was smart to go with that option. Hope they will all do well with it this year. Lisa, I hope Chuck will have a save trip and a good visit with his mom. Is he driving? If so, how long will it take him to get there? I finally put a bottle of hand sanitizer in the car. I keep a smaller bottle in my purse, but have the other in the cup holder. So if I get gas or make a stop or anything it is easy to just reach out and use it when I get in the car. I had to get into an old computer yesterday and try and use some software. While I had the computer up and running (and it stayed running long enough) I was looking through old photos. They were from 2008 and many just right after I got Cheeky. Both she and Pippi were under a year old and on the one hand it was so nice to see them young, healthy and pics of them running and playing. On the other hand it left me feeling a little down as I look at them now with gray faces and various health issues and both sleeping more and more of the time. If only we could slow down the clock. There were also pictures of me and family. 12 years doesn't seem like it should be that much, but with me and my parents it looks like we have aged far more than 12 years since then. There again it was a little to think of the changes in my parents health over that time frame. In fact, one more thread to catch up on and then I am off to my parents' house to help with some things. In my dad's case it is help because his cognitive abilities (as well as his strength and balance) are not what they once were. We see little changes more and more. And for mom, her blood pressure keeps bottoming out and she doesn't have the energy to finish cooking some meat she bought. She likes to cook it up and put it in the freezer. So she had called to ask if I could help her with that. Again, I wish we could slow down the clock. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Laura Pippi, I'm with you! I hope 2021 is totally unremarkable. Have you ever heard that supposedly ancient Chinese curse? "May you live in interesting times." These are interesting times! But here is a link to an article that helps put everything in perspective: world.wng.org/content/polarized_politics_is_nothing_newThere really is nothing new under the sun. Carol Daisy & Josey, I have to admit I'm a little surprised but very happy to hear that Brian shows promise as a mentor for the boys' online schooling. To be needed, to be trusted, to be useful--this could be his best chance to grow up and take his life seriously. 🙏

Good morning everyone Happy Sunday Lisa yes the shawl is almost finished I am working on the edging will take a picture as soon as complete and post here and on facebook. So far plan to keep it for myself but if something comes up and someone loves it I may just give it to them. Frankly I never go anyway that this would be used for. Lisa yes Jerry got his mom all signed in to the Cold Spring Nursing Home he said he was not able to go in the back to see how it looks because of the virus. I don't blame you wishing you had someone around to help you with the ladder instead of your mom. Just be careful Carol I agree if Bryan stays home with the kids maybe he won't be out to get any liquor to drink. And that he helps the boys with learning that way you won't have to watch them as much. Marty interesting article about politics. Me I try to avoid all politics I do vote since it took women a long time to get the right to vote I make sure that I vote. Lisa are you pups doing okay how is your job doing Anick we love to see pictures to of how you fix up the yard and spending more agility with Willy Leslie how are things coming with Toby Yesterday was Jerry and Lisa fifth wedding anniversary I forgot till she posted on facebook Hugs Dee & Tori

As bad as the week as started it did end well here! Earlier this week I was suppose to have my heating fuel tank change but when the workers did show up they did find out they had the wrong kind of tank for my installation so they did go away without doing the job and I finally got news on Friday that they had figure out where the mistake was and they will come over next Friday to do the job. I did also get news on where to find the wool I was missing to finish the shawl and when I did call the nice Lady at that store she already did know the whole story and had put the wool under the counter until I call her, she did ship it to me the same day and I should get it this week. Yesterday when we got up my Husband decided that we would go order the good dirt for the flowerbed and the store did deliver it the same day so that was nice. When we got out of that store we did go to the flower nursery next door to get a few plants so the flowerbed would not be empty. It still does look kind of empty because it would cost a fortune to fill it all at once so I will be looking for the fall specials in September and October , you can often get up to 70% or 80% off from the regular pricing. This is a photo from earlier this summer, the weeds were now big and all over the place before they did fix it and there was building materials coming out of the ground all the time. This photo is with the top soil they did put and I had just finish putting the plastic edging around it. This is after putting the good soil and a few plants in, it still look empty but it is way better than a pit full of weeds!!!! I did spoil myself a little. I used to have a fancy Echinacea collection in the original flowerbed and I did manage to get 3 back and one of them is an expensive one that was in special this week so that makes me happy! Dee, I hope things go great for you tomorrow when you see Ward. Does the ancient Chinese curse say that humanity would go stupid? It look to me like people are getting dumber everyday..... I often wonder what all those people who did make the science and technology progress so much after WWII would think when looking at peoples today...

Anick, the flower bed looks great. Amazing sometimes how much difference a little change like that can make to how things look. I have often thought about the changes my grandparents saw in their life time. Or the changes their parents saw. And then I think we haven't done nearly as much in my life time. I wonder is that true or does it just seem like that because we are living through little changes all the time that we don't notice it as much? For some reason that makes me think of my great grandfather. I remember my grandfather talking about him and how he could turn a wagon and team of horses any way you wanted, but he never could figure out how to back a car up to go the direction he wanted. Think it is going to be up in the 90s again today, but was nice this morning. Opened a few windows for a bit since it was cooler outside than in the house. I always enjoy getting some fresh air in the house, too. I've got the crock pot going out on the sun porch with some beef stroganof and it is really starting to smell good. I have been hanging clothes out to dry and not using the dryer - so as not to heat up the house. That works well, but you have to spread out doing the laundry because one load isn't dry before the next one would need the same space to hang out. That is the only down side. Hoping to get lots of little things done around the house this afternoon.

Good afternoon ladies! Laura for the reminder! I had clothes in the washer l needed to put in dryer! You are right about the progresses we are making! Seems it has definitely slowed down! Anick the yard and flower bed are looking awesome! How do you keep Willy out? Glad you found some more yarn! Marty interesting article! Seems we are destined to be a country at war with ourselves. because it seems both parties want a lot of the same things. Dee, work is going fine. Still don't know when we'll open completely. I think they are still trying to figure out how to do that and keep people safe. Leslie UsurpingToby and Kathy Milo Blue Eyes hope you can drop in soon! Oh yeah, l don't get any notifications. I didn't sign up for them. I get enough junk mail. But l do check my notifications every time l stop in.

WOW! Your yard looks so beautiful Anick!! I agree about humans! Laura, Marty and Dee I also agree about Brian staying home and getting himself together. Of course Tracy will check on things but Brian will be there day in and out. I also like me not babysitting them. When needed I get Parker and Evan but them 2 can be more then a handful at times. And OMD they can talk and talk and both want your undivided attention. Coal stays home by himself at times but he to can talk your ear off For now all our schools are stating off at home but I think in Sept. they can to the school if they want. But not the grandsons. That will be way better for them. I kinda feel bad for Parker as he is in 6th now and won't be starting that at school. But maybe nest year. Carol and Molly and Pooks

Lisa, I was thinking more last night about the changes I have seen in my life time and two that came to mind were personal computers and cell phones. When I was a kid and in school no had a personal computer. Now everyone has one. And cell phones didn't exist. It was rotary dial phones. I guess I didn't think of it at first because it has been steps in progress to get us here. Not one giant leap. Cancer and treatments for other diseases was another thing I thought about. Again, when I was a kid it seems like cancer was a death sentence. Some survived, but it didn't seem like many did. There is still room for improvement there, but I feel like today you have a much better chance for beating it. I hope in my life time we see more reliable cures. I just happened to think about the space station, too. That's a big change from the past. I still wonder though if my grandparents and their parents felt like they saw more significant changes in their life time. Dee the shawl is lovely. I have a friend here in TN who recently made a table cloth that had a similar looking pattern. What talented people I know. I hope your visit with Ward this morning went well. And hope you had good weather and nothing to spoil it. Hope you found him looking well and it eased your concerns. I also hope they will be able to keep this up and you will be able to see him more regularly now. My house needs a lot more work on it than it gets a lot of the time. I seem to go in spurts and lately I am struggling to be motivated to keep sorting things out and getting rid of old stuff. Carol, my sister and her daughter are talkers. My niece, especially when she was younger, could talk anyone's ear off. Sometimes I found it just exhausting to be around the non-stop chatter. Love her to pieces, but it just wore me out. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

ood morning everyone Happy Tuesday Anick I just love how your front yard going to turn out Carol sorry the kids have to do online but feel it is much safer Lisa thank you for the compliments on the shawl Laura thank you for the compliments on the shawl Well I almost did not have the open visit with Ward yesterday when we left at 10:30 am it started to rain but while enroute my cell phone rang gave it to Jerry to answer it was the nursing home he told her I was driving we were on the way there but he could take a message. She said it was pouring down rain there was going to cancel but since we are on our way maybe the rain will let up and we can have our visit. I tried to go to front door like social worker said they came to door did not let us in did not sign us up asked who we were seeing told us to drive around back I handed them the paper for the renewal of medicaid then we stopped at one place in back and asked employees if this was were visiting was they asked who and I told them and they told me go around further around the dumperster that is unit 3 meeting place. So that is what we did an two aids were there one it was his first day. The other went to get Ward they took our temperature to make sure we did not have a fever. They brought the table over and cleaned it off told us to stay there and not come closer. When Ward came out they brought him out by a door closer to the meeting place it was raining lightly at the time he was not in a wheel chair but some other chair where he is like laying down. He came out making noises with his tongue like a child does and we waved at him and told him who we were but he did not acknowledge we were there we even tried standing up and waving but still just kept moving around in the chair like he was hurting or uncomfortable. I did ask the aid to be able to visit every week she said that Rhonda the social worker arranges that so I went home called her left a message but did not get a return phone call so will call again when I get back from Rosemarie house. Well since we had to schedule the visitation they had him all cleaned up wearing a long sleeve shirt wrapped in the blanket I bought him with the eagle on it and they even shaved him and cut his hair so my concerns of neglect from him were gone. I know since we have to schedule meetings they will clean him up before the meetings. I do miss having him home and his beautiful smile like the picture of him attending my college graduation in Florida in 2011. Jerry and I both thought he looked a lot better than we were expecting to see after not visiting him since March.

Tori, your shawl is beautiful!!!!!
My yarn got here yesterday so I will be able to pick up the work on my shawl!
Willy can't go in the frontyard unless he is on leash and he try very hard to get to the flowerbed.....
Yes we now have computers and all those cool things but I still think society as a general as regress in many way. People are now a lot more selfish and disrespectful and so many people nowadays think science is fake and make believe to hide other things. I read too often people saying that getting an education is getting you brainwashed and that insulting others make you a better human being.... it is all so senseless!

When I was in school there were no puters or cell phones. They can be fantastic but also sometimes not. Dee glad you and Jerry see Ward. Yesterday Evan picked his puter up at the school. The middle school didn't have Parkers yet or the other 6th grades School starts today on line. Parker was he couldn't start and said he was going to watch Ninjago ( a Lego movie) all day in the bedroom. Nothing going on thank with us goodness!

Dee, I'm so glad you got to see Ward and it wasn't cancelled because of the rain. I'm also glad you found him clean and well cared for. I know that had to be a relief. I'm sorry he wasn't able to acknowledge your presence or better still have a conversation with you. I hope it will be easy to set up weekly visits and hope the weather will cooperate each week. By the way, both you and Ward have beautiful in that picture from your graduation. Anick, I would have to agree that manners seem to be something we lose more of every year. That reminded me of a comment my uncle made one time at the hospital. I was pushing him in a wheelchair and commented about how nice it was that doors open automatically when you approach. Saved me having to try and hold a door and get a wheel chair through at the same time. His reply though was that while he knew that was good and helpful he didn't like them because it didn't allow a man to treat a lady like a lady and open the door for her. That thought never would have occurred to me. Carol how frustrating about the computer for Parker! I sure hope the middle school can come up with one soon. Who wants the start the year behind already?!! Did they have any idea when they would have one for him? I'm sorry things didn't get to start off on the right foot. Trying to make some more progress on this house. I pulled out a stack of boxes from my bedroom and need to go through them. One day I need to try on a bunch of clothes and get rid of some things, but think I will wait for cooler weather to tackle that project. I need to come up with some good mouse proof containers for storing dog treats and things. Now that I have the cats I'm hoping never to have mouse problems again. I did a few years back. Haven't seen any for years, but I still tend to worry about things being in the house that might temp them. And where I have moved the dog food and teats and such is an area where I used to find evidence of them. Makes me a little nervous. But I think it works better for the space of the room. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)
