Carol I didn't realize Yorkies came in two sizes. Learned something new today. Now the big question is can I remember it? hehe. Ginger, that is funny about Twinkle. My crew like to follow me to the bathroom. The dogs more so than the cats though. Leslie, I was thinking similarly - alternative treatments. I don't like needles though so I was thinking acupressure/reflexology. And yes, menopause seemed to help so many things! Hopefully doctors will learn better how hormonal imbalances may affect us, and how to get things back in balance. I also think foods can often affect us in ways we didn't realize. Ginger, I really would encourage you to keep a food diary for a while and see if you see any patterns. You may find you have some that are triggering flare ups. One medical practice I had worked with had a dietician that was doing research on veggies/diet and your blood type. I should find out what my blood type is and do some research online. As best as I can remember she was saying that certain blood types do better with certain vegetables. And that if you know your blood type and eat right for it you will feel better. I'm afraid I couldn't tell you more than that. One other thing that I know can affect how much I am hurting is barometric pressure. Knowing that doesn't stop me from hurting, but helps me to understand when I may be more likely to hurt, and to plan activities taking that into consideration. Leslie, I hope your knee settles back down quickly. How do you manage working in the garden? Do you have something you can sit on so you are not kneeling as you work? Lisa, I love the shadow box! Was there a lip holding the back in? Any chance that could have been the side that was supposed to hold the glass? The game was a lot of fun. And we put off playing it until everyone had been vaccinated. I wouldn't have gone if I hadn't been. This game was a little like a break out room kind of thing. Have you ever done one of those? I did once, but not with the best group of people. We had a couple that wanted to solve it alone and would not share ideas or information. Works much better when you have people who work well together. Leslie, with the game we played it comes with everything you need - it's set up. There was a map, photos, newspaper clippings, letters, etc. There is also a web site to go along with it so you can check to see if your answers are right or to get a hint if needed. This is the one we played ... Blackbrim 1876 When we have gotten together to work on geocaching puzzles I have brought snacks. I do it for a few reasons. 1. I sometimes want a healthier snack. 2. If I bring something to eat then I know there will be something there I can eat. 3. If someone else is hosting (and buying the game) this is a way to give a little back for their hospitality. The group had originally talked about getting pizza (I don't do well with pizza because of the cheese - talk about gas!), but the day before the game the host said he would have snacks but if anyone else wanted to bring some that would be good. I was a little surprised no one else brought any. And the hosts snacks were peanuts and caramel candies. Unless they are raw peanuts with no oil and salt on them I can't eat that - it is probably the oil, but something in them sets off my knees. And I don't need the candy. Dee, will you see Rosemarie and Di today and tomorrow or can you say you are getting ready for company? And I'm assuming you won't go over while your family is in town. You will have a nice break. I hope you will not need to have the cataracts addressed sooner. Hmm. I would have been tempted to tell her that the light sensitivity was new. I'm sorry to hear about your friend Dorothy. And go Alice! 105 ... just hard to imagine. And still able to get out and around some. Fantastic. I used to work with a lady who's grandmother made it to 108. I think she managed to live at home until she was 107. Anick, that reminds me of some of the hikes I would take the dogs on in the past. We would all be tired at the end of the hike, but the dogs would nap while I drove home. It was often 45 minutes to an hour to get home. But then they were refreshed and ready to go again and I was ready for my nap! Ginger, would yoga or tai chi be a good option for you? Something that would keep you moving, but not be jarring? And do pain management centers look at ways to manage pain other than medication? I have no doubt medication has to be a part of it, but do they also try to find other ways to hopefully help or minimize some of the medication? I could not get to sleep last night and boy am I dragging now. I think it would be hard to nap right now though even if I could stop and do that. I've been listening to jack hammers most of the morning. Been having to listen to a lot of that lately. I know sometimes they have to do that, but gosh I wish they could spread it out more and not have to hear it day after day after day all day long. One more reason I am not thrilled with the new development going in near me. Has anyone besides me ever looked for a $3 item on Amazon to get your order up to $25 to get free shipping? hehe That is what I am doing. I can find plenty of expensive things I want, but I'm trying to keep cost down. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Laura, try going to the grocery section. Sometimes you can find a box of cocoa or something small like that to get you to the limit! 😊

Leslie, I ended up buying a $7 item ... a book I have not been able to get (at least digitally) through my library. This is a paper back and I will miss being able to increase the font size like I can on my tablet. hehe. I should have gone into the library to see if they could have gotten the book from another library and then used my money on something else, but went ahead and got the book. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Laura, Sometimes it is worth it to spend the $7 rather than wait the time it takes to get an interlibrary loan! Hope you like it!
Leslie that's a great suggestion! I broke down and got Amazon prime so l don't worry about the shipping. It's gone up every year!
Ginger ooohhhh, yoga or tai chi! That is a good suggestion! At least, l think!
Dee that's funny! I made chocolate chip cookies today!
Anick somehow that does not surprise me at all!
Carol as long as he is not losing weight, I think it is probably good!
Marty, speaking of weight, how Big is toffee these days?
I had a lazy dat today, besides the baking cookies!! I have the best recipe!

I wish I could eat some of those cookies. Unfortunately I’ve found that I’ve outgrown all of my summer pants without gaining any weight. 😞. Sigh, these pesky hourglass sands....

Good morning everyone Happy Wednesday Ginger I have had dry eyes before would put drops once in a while when they irriated me usually after getting off the computer the blue light glasses I bought for the computer did not help me they were clip on for my reading glasses. now I don't use reading glasses but that procedure certainly made my eyes more sensitive to the light never had the probleme till they did the smoothing and polishing I thiank the chemcial they put on makes my eyes drier. Today having trouble keeping my eyes open Carol I thinks Pooks is just right he is eating and looks perfect Laura did not go to Rosemarie on Monday did go yesterday and said we are done earlier enough I can do my cleaning after our games she is right as soon as I get home I clean and now my house is all clean after I made the chocolate chip cookies and devilled eggs I relaxed a couple hours then cleaned the bathroom and kitchn. Had to do my grocery shopping yesterday as I needed butter for the cookies. Of course I had to eat a couple of those cookies been while since I made them the last time they visited me which was 2 years ago in 2019 just after I had to put Ward in a nursing home and before Sabrina went to the bridge. Today going to their house to play games but they won't be seeing me from Thursday through Sunday while my nephew is in town. Anick that was good the agility tired Willy out but he certainly had a power nap on the way home in the car that when he finally reached home he was in full swing. Lisa did you get in the mood to make chocolate chip cookies yesterday. Mine were delicious not bragging but I like them soft and warm out of the oven and I have to taste them before someone eats them. Ward was my tester when he was alive. Leslie sorry you are unable to eat chocolate chip cookies I dont have an hour glass figure lost it hyears ao Hugs Dee, Tori & Dallas

Willy almost never take naps in the day so when he as one we are in for a crazy ride when he gets up!!!
The Lady who used to live next door did tell me something I think is kind of cool. When you loose the hourglass shape you don't get fat, instead tell yourself that you look like a top model from the renaissances, like all those Ladies in all the classical paintings.

Lisa, I can believe that. Heck, with one of the e-books I just got one in the last few days that I had put on hold in mid November. As for my $7 book - it's a mystery. I have no doubt I will like it. I have enjoyed other books in the series. I like to read them in order when possible and my library was missing a book in the middle of the series. Seems they have a few series like that with one missing in the middle. There have been times I have thought about Amazon Prime, but so far haven't. Getting my orders would be nice. Of course after I placed that order I thought of a few other things I could have added to my order instead, but I will enjoy the book. Mmmm I wish I had made chocolate chip cookies yesterday. One would taste good right now. Leslie, dag nab it! There are days I feel like I am working on an inverted hour glass figure. BOL! Anick, I like your neighbor and the way she thinks. Dee, I probably would have had to eat more than a couple of those cookies ... just to make sure they were okay for company. hehe. I've got a pretty good to do list for today and tomorrow. And I'm starting off with a clingy crew here. Inky is trying to get in my lap as I type, Cheeky is trying to give my feet a bath, and Pippi is making sure no matter where I move she is touching me. I may have to add quality cuddle time to the list and start with that. hehe. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

I knew Yorkies came in different sizes and with 2 big dogs (Walker and Sweet Alexandria) we should have a bigger one. giant (big/large) - Giant Yorkies are over 9 inches in height and over 7 pounds in weight (if not obese). Some owners report 14-pound dogs that are in good health and physically lean. This size is not the breed standard, but these dogs tend to be healthy and may even be in better health than their smaller family members. standard - Height: 7–8 inches, Weight: 7 pounds teacup (small) - Teacup Yorkies are under 4 pounds When we got him he was Black and Tan but after his first grooming his fur changed to Blue(grayish/Gold(light Blond) . I guess Pooks is a giant but I have always thought a regular perfect little guy And yes we all know our own babies are very perfect No matter the breed. All you need is to be of pure heart to be perfect. I am a sap at times and proud of it LOL!!

Laura- I don't think yoga or tai chi would be good for me. I have injured my neck & shoulders several times. I have bulging discs in my neck. One of them is against my spinal cord. I don't think I could do those yoga poses. I don't think I could stand on one leg for yoga or tai chi since both of my knees are screwed up & I can get dizzy sometimes from high blood pressure & a screwed up left ear. I agree about finding something not jarring to my body, but I don't think that's it. That eating for your blood type thing that you mentioned sounds quite interesting. I haven't taken the time to look that up, but I will. I have never heard of that, but who knows? That doctor might be on to something. I know I am O +. Any good pain management place will offer other things besides just drugging you up. Some have PT, counseling & various other programs. Some places are just drug dealers with a license though. Now my legs & feet have become swollen. Walking hurts something fierce alot of the time now. Wearing socks & shoes has become very uncomfortable & painful. I guess I really screwed up by not going to PT and/or pain management sooner.

Good morning everyone Happy Thursday Anick tha tpower naps that Willy gets gives him the extra zoom to get through the day. I like what the lady who used to live next door said about hour glass figures Laura I do believe you will have to have cuddle time before you work on your to do list. Normally I do but the last batch was a little crisp which I did not like because I answered the doorbell to someone trying to sell treatment to my yard Carol I believe Pooks is perfect my girls were not small but not quite as big as Pooks but my Tiffany after her first grooming looked silver just like Pooks but AJ still had her black and tan coloring Ginger I am so sorry you have such horrible health issues which there really are no cures for Lisa I love my cookies soft and so does my nephew and Ward liked them soft too. I am not into hard or cripy cookies. The kids arrived last night at 6:30 when I showed them the cookies Donnie said I have to throw this cookie away not any good if we have your cookies. He got a chocolate chip cookie from KFC said he was not impressed with their food they stopped for lunch there. Going to the cemetery today sometime and will see if my nephew will take me to Lowes so I can get a replacement door for my basement I will pay him but he gets military discount and every discount helps Hugs, Dee, Tori & Dallas

I think breed standards are only good for shows. If I look at Border Collies standards both my boys are too big and too tall but they are the size of most working Border Collies out there. I have always found Yorkies colours to be fascinating, they was it change and all the shades they get is very lovely.

The Promise
Could eating a diet based on your blood type -- O, A, B, or AB -- help you trim down and get healthier? That's the idea behind the Blood Type Diet, created by naturopath Peter J. D'Adamo.
D'Adamo claims that the foods you eat react chemically with your blood type. If you follow a diet designed for your blood type, your body will digest food more efficiently. You'll lose weight, have more energy, and help prevent disease.
What You Can Eat
That depends on your blood type. Here's what D'Adamo recommends for each type:
Type O blood: A high-protein diet heavy on lean meat, poultry, fish, and vegetables, and light on grains, beans, and dairy. D'Adamo also recommends various supplements to help with tummy troubles and other issues he says people with type O tend to have.
Type A blood: A meat-free diet based on fruits and vegetables, beans and legumes, and whole grains -- ideally, organic and fresh, because D'Adamo says people with type A blood have a sensitive immune system.
Type B blood: Avoid corn, wheat, buckwheat, lentils, tomatoes, peanuts, and sesame seeds. Chicken is also problematic, D'Adamo says. He encourages eating green vegetables, eggs, certain meats, and low-fat dairy.
Type AB blood: Foods to focus on include tofu, seafood, dairy, and green vegetables. He says people with type AB blood tend to have low stomach acid. Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and smoked or cured meats.
Level of Effort: High
If you don't already know your blood type, you'll need to find that out. The results will determine exactly what you need to do.
Limitations: Depending on your blood type, you may need to severely restrict the foods you eat.
Cooking and shopping: Your blood type will determine your shopping list and your choices when eating out.
Packaged foods or meals? None required.
In-person meetings? No.
Exercise: The Blood Type Diet recommends exercises based on your blood type. For instance, it suggests yoga or tai chi for type As, and vigorous aerobic exercises like jogging or biking for up to an hour a day for type Os.
Does It Allow for Dietary Restrictions or Preferences?
Because the diet dictates that you eat very specific types of food based on your blood type, it doesn't allow much for personal tastes.
For example, if you're a big fan of meat and potatoes, you won't be very happy on the type A diet, which is mostly vegetarian.
There are even recommendations about the types of spices and condiments you can use.
If you're looking for a diet that's gluten-free, you should know that this diet doesn't ban gluten. You may be able to make choices that are gluten-free, if you read food labels carefully.
What Else You Should Know
Cost: D'Adamo recommends a lot of specialty and organic foods (such as soy milk and carob chip cookies), which can be pricey. Vitamin and herbal supplements are also part of the diet.
Support: You do this diet on your own.
What Dr. Melinda Ratini Says: Does It Work?
One study found that adults eating the type A diet showed improved health markers, but this occurred in everyone, not just those with type A blood type. In 2013, a major review concluded that no evidence exists to support benefits of blood type diets.
It's likely that you would lose weight, though, because the diet can be very restrictive.
Is It Good for Certain Conditions?
The Blood Type Diet makes recommendations based solely on your blood type. So, if you have a chronic condition (say, diabetes), you may be told to eat high protein, while another person with diabetes may have to avoid dairy or chicken. This may conflict with your diabetes treatment plan.
The American Diabetes Association recommends a more practical approach to your day-to-day eating. It also cautions against focusing on specific foods. In most cases it doesn't recommend cutting out any major food groups.
The Blood Type Diet also fails to address other conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, or cholesterol. Any needed weight loss is sure to have a positive impact on these conditions. But no matter your blood type, you should follow the same guidelines issued by The American Heart Association (AHA) for a low-fat and low-salt diet.
Also, everyone should aim for 150 minutes of aerobic exercise per week and at least 2 days of strength training per week.
The Final Word
On The Blood Type Diet, you’ll avoid processed food and simple carbs. That may be enough to help you lose some weight. But any weight loss on this diet has not been linked to your blood type.
There’s also no research proving that this diet can aid in digestion or give you more energy.
Although you'll buy and prepare your own foods on this plan, your choices are limited depending on your blood type. So be prepared to spend some time in the kitchen.
The diet may quickly become expensive, too, since the author recommends you buy organics as well as his own line of supplements.
If the Blood Type Diet intrigues you, consider this: The science is stacked behind traditional recommendations for healthy eating for weight loss -- not restrictions based on the type of your blood.
