Carol, that is neat about the different sized Yorkies. Until you mentioned it yesterday (or the day before) I really didn't know they came in multiple sizes. People are often surprised at Pippi's age. They think she is a doberman puppy and not full grown yet. Well, in the last year she is starting to look older. So they may not think it as much as they used to. Ginger, I've got bulging disks, too. Yoga would not be good. I did have a physical therapist suggest Tai Chi though. She said the gentle, fluid motions would be good. At the time I was falling a lot because the bulging disk was interrupting nerve signals to my legs. I think in your case water aerobics might be a better idea though. Whatever you end up with, they will know how to modify exercises or poses or whatever to accommodate your particular health issues. My sister teaches yoga and talks from time to time about having to find an alternate pose or way to do things for some of her students. Whatever you decide to try talk to them about your health issues and concerns you may have. The more information they have the better they can help you. Lisa, I like both soft and crunchy chocolate chip cookies, but soft is my favorite. How did the book discussion go? Was it a large group? Did anyone wear masks? Did you have any concerns about meeting in person? I haven't heard of programs starting back up at my library, but I don't really know. I haven't checked recently. Dee, I don't like it when people come door to door selling stuff. If they want to leave information stuck in the door that is fine, but wish they wouldn't ring the bell. Good thinking on having your nephew use his military discount at Lowe's. Will he switch out the door for you as well? One day I need to find a good handy man and get some help with some projects. Anick, I'm with you about breed standard only being good for shows. Some of that sounds interesting, Ginger. The research being done where I worked I don't think was so much as a diet for losing weight as just one that might work better for your overall health. I don't know my blood type, but would be interesting to see. I think my get up and go forgot to get up this morning. I am dragging today. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Good morning everyone!! Tori, I agree with Donnie! Those store bought cookies belong in the trash next to one of your fresh baked ones!! Glad you are getting a discount on the door and hope your nephew will help install it! Anick, we say breed standards schmeed standards! (Unless, of course, you are into showing your dogs!) The AKC is a little full of themselves, but that doesn't stop us from watching the dog shows! Twinkle, thanks for the info on the Eat Right 4 Your type. Do you think you might try it? Carol, mommy is the same way. She LOVES looking at the dog books and reading about all the different breeds!! Pippi, there were seven of us at the discussion. (A couple members thought it was later in the day because the virtual one, last month, was after the library closed. We had to have it earlier because the library closes at 2:00 on Wednesday). Anyway, everyone who was there had been vaccinated, so we all felt comfortable not wearing our masks! We discussed The Children Act by Ian McEwan about a family courts judge who has to decide if a boy dying from leukemia should have a blood transfusion against his Jehovah's Witness parents. Good book and was made into a good movie with Emma Thompson. Leslie, I forgot to answer our question about the shadow box. It is a dark stained wood, not sure the type. Here is a link to the description on Amazon. Shadow Box

Good morning everyone Happy Friday Ginger that was very good information about what people should eat for their blood type I never knew that so are you going to follow that diet. Lisa great that you had a book discussion and more that everyone was vaccinated and were comfortable not to wear mask. Laura my nephew reminds me so much of Ward. Ward could not sit still always doing work on the house or car until his health no longer allowed him to do so. Well my nephew not only paid for the door and supplies for fixing things around here but he already has the door put up. He and Christine went out front where the yard was separating and showing the underside of the sidewalk by the front door they put gravel there and top soil and planted grass seed said the gross will grow by the time I sell. He was going around the house seeing what he could fix that would not meet home inspection. He asked about the vent in my basement at the end of the steps. I told him the man that took out the bath and installed the walk in shower put that vent there as he caused a leak in the pipe I had to hire a plumber to come in and replace the pipe he caused a leak in. So my nephew bought a covering with a plate but the one he got was too small so he will go out today to buy a bigger one and fix that. He also bought plaster he is going to fix my bathroom from the mess that guy made when installing the walk in shower. He just painted over the shower did not plaster to make even with rest of wall then he said will get paint and paint my bathroom. I am going to hate to see them leave on Sunday they have been a blessing not only with the work he is doing but having someone to talk with. He won't take money for the supplies but will let them take the curio and the old sewing machine downstairs that Christine wanted a few years ago but had no room. I gave her all the baby outfits I crocheted told her when her girls get married and have babies to give it to them and they will have something from me if I am dead and gone by the time they get married. Lydia the youngest said you are going to be around for a long time Aunt Dee They have their dogs at puppy camp and we have been watching them on the video and Buster was so cute he was laying in a toy car with a small yorkie made me think of my Sabrina and Aj but Bella and Max in a room for bigger dogs just laying by their kennel not walking around with looks on their faces missing mommy and daddy Anick breeds are nice but plain mutts are cute too. Lisa yes my nephew prefers home made cookies I fixed them cheeseburgers yesterday but he doesn't want to go to any restaurants but we may order something on line from a restaurant today then drive and pick it up and bring it home. I know it is going to take him a while to work on that bathroom and the man the installed my walk in shower did a lousy job. Carol we loved all your furs that you have had over the years and glad you husband able to get discounts too Everyone have a great Memorial Day Weekend Hugs Dee, Tori & Dallas

Those stupid breed standard are the reason why most Border Collies are not registered in kennel clubs but in Border Collies associations instead. You are right Dee mutts are also great and cute!!! In agility here we don't say mutts, they are call ''All Canadian'' instead, that include all dogs without papers.

Mommy loves al doggies and cats . Both our hubro and husis have been bitten. Hubro was little and a guy had his dog at an uncles and that dog was like going to bite someone and got hubro on the arm. The dog did have its shots and the guy paid for ER treatment. Then long after that husis was delivering Phone books and didn't know a dog was on a persons porch. She got bit on her upper bun. She drove herself home as she was old enough to drive and using her own car. Mommy called the police to report it. The dog had all shots and the people paid for husis ER treatment. But all furs are great!! All critters to

Lisa, Cheeky likes to watch dog shows. I like them, too, but have about as much fun watching Cheeky watch them as I do watching them myself. Sounds like a good book you just finished with the discussion group. How often do you meet? And what is your next book? I'm surprised the hinges and cover weren't already attached on your shadow box. Dee, what a blessing your nephew is. I'm so glad not only that he can come and help, but that he does! Eek on the bites Carol. Sorry both kids had those experiences. They are doing road construction, utility work, and whatever else in just about every direction you try to go from my house. You can hardly get from here to there lately. I wish they could finish one project before starting the next. That and they keep knocking out my cable/internet/phone a few times a day it seems. It's getting old. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Hi everyone! I am going to get a shopping list for my blood type. I think I am going to try to follow it as much as I can. I know there are some foods that I am going to want to eat regardless. It states I am not supposed to eat potatoes, but I love them. I just stopped at a restaurant downtown & got some turkey n dressing with mashed potatoes & gravy.
I had a GYN appointment. I got an ultrasound to check my insides since I hurt my stomach so bad in that wreck back in July 2020. She said everything looked good. I had to walk all over the place. In a way, I think it helped me to move.
I am unsure about pain management now. I read some places want you to sign a contract agreeing that only they can provide you with pain meds. What if I get in another accident after the clinic is closed? What if someone breaks into my home & shoots me in the middle of the night when the clinic is closed? Does that freaking mean that the ER will just let me lay there in white knuckle agony because they can't/won't give me pain meds? Forget that! They also want to drug test you. I worry about false positives ruining my life. I have heard that sometimes what you eat & drink can cause a false positive. I heard once that you could test positive for coke if you eat poppy seeds. I've built up a nice life for myself. I own my house. I have a good job making good money (especially for someone who didn't go to college.) I am well respected at work. In 2019 they gave me the highest honor possible, a Commisioner's Citation Award. I do not want anything screwing that up, so I really need to think on this & get more information.

Ginger, for sure you need to ask all those questions when you go to a clinic!!!
Laura, the next discussion is All Crestures great and Small and then the Wife by Meg Wolitzer, made into a movie with Glenn Close and then News of the World by Paulette Jiles made into a movie with Tom Hanks. We meet every other month and that will be through November. How cute Cheeky must be to watch! She is so adorable!
Carol, I have a pretty ugly scar on my arm froma bite from the next door neighbor's dog. They, too, paid for the emergency room. The scar kind of looks like the letter "F" and I say it stands for the F***er who bit me!
Anick, I like that All Canadian instead of mutt! I don't think I've ever had a full blooded dog. Clarabelle supposedly is, but I don't think so!
Dee, how wonderful that your nephew is helping you out so much and that is great that they want the sewing machine!!
Did any of you watch Friends? I love that show! Didn't start watching till the last season, but now I've seen every episode at least once. Watched the reunion last night! It was very touching!!

Good morning everyone Happy Saturday Anick I think that is great they don't call them mutts but all Canadians and allow them though they don't have paperwork Carol when the family members got bit by the dogs I am glad the owner of the dog paid for their expense and that the dogs had their shots but did it make your family members afraid of dogs Lisa you got bit too by a dog and the owner paid the expense and his dogs had their shots glad to hear that but I see from all the dogs you have it never made you afraid of dogs. I wish my nephew lived closer he is a big help I tell him he is here for a visit but Christine said he bought his tools as he can't just sit still. He has to be doing something and since I am going to sell the house he wants to make sure it passes home inspection Ginger my mommy loves turkey and mashed potatoes she eats a lot of that she will go to Kroger's buy a roasted turkey breast still warm bring it home and heat up a Bob Evans mashed potatoes and that turkey breast will last her three days. Laura y7es my nephew is a blessing whenever he visits though far and in between but he lives in Virginia and me here in Kentucky. He said that Ward and I were good to him growing up as Ward gave him his first car when he got his driver's license and we used to go pick them up and bring them to our house on the weekends when we lived in Kentucky till my mom saw they were having too much fun got him a job and said he can't come anymore. I had told Jerry they were coming for Memorial Day but Jerry and Lisa have not called or come to visit they may be gone for the holiday. I did not post anything about him visiting on my timeline as my brother would see it and get mad for Donnie coming to visit me instead of him. Donnie doesn't plan on driving to Ohio to visit him as they don't have the time. Last time my brother jumped his case because he is suppose to come to his house first before anyone else. Mommy has a roast cooking in the crockpot today we are eating roast, mashed potatoes and corn as this is their last day with me they are heading home tomorrow. The girls have school till June 10. They have been checking in online here attending classes from 8 am to 2:30. They stay downstairs till school has dismissed then come upstairs as no distractions down there. Everyone have a good weekend stay safe Hugs dee, Tori & Dallas

Lisa your scar sounds Cool!! Sorry it happened. Surprising my kids have liked/loved dogs all their lives. I guess if they didn't I would have had to kick the kids out!! LOL!! willy that is so right!! I've had 11 dogs of my own in my life and only Molly and Pooks had papers. The rest were mixes. I registered Molly and Pooks with AKC because I wanted to see their backgrounds. I never were going to breed them. When I was little is kids couldn't have dogs and cats. So when I got grown up I did get some!! I might have went a little overboard but all were very loved.

Ginger, I will be curious to hear if the blood type diet helps. I hope it will. Maybe you can talk with someone at a pain management place and tell them your concerns and get some answers. Lisa do you do just one book for each meeting, or with it being every other month do you discuss more than one book? I would love to know what goes through Cheeky's mind while she is watching a dog show. Part of it she sits and watches quietly. Then sometimes she does quiet little barks. Other times it is a big bark and then sometimes she is up on her feet barking her head off. She has big opinions on some of the dogs. Always interesting to watch with her. I watched Friends from time to time and enjoyed it. I didn't see the reunion though. Dee, families can be funny sometimes, can't they? One bonus of moving to FL is if Donnie wants to visit you there he has a good excuse not to stop by OH on the same trip. hehe. This visit has gone quickly, hasn't it? And how neat that the girls can do virtual school from there. I hadn't thought about it, but that could make it easier for families to travel even during the school year if they wanted. Kind of nice. Very true Anick. I think most dogs are capable of great things. Are things starting to open up near you? I found a site the other day showing what percentage of people were fully vaccinated in each state. TN is pretty . I think it was around 32% statewide. When I looked for my county I think we were 35%, but when it showed graphs of people fully vaccinated and people who have had the 1st shot - looks like the number of people getting shots is tapering off. That is discouraging to me. BOL Carol - kick the kids out. Got a giggle out of that. Dogs and cats are good company. Not only can they keep you company but can help keep you more active, too. I grew up mostly with cats. Had cats almost all my life. We had a dog for a short time when I was growing up. Didn't have another until I got the house I am in now and then I got Pippi, shortly followed by Cheeky. A few years went by and then Pixie joined the family, shortly followed by Dutchess. I am sure I will get another dog once Pippi and Cheeky are gone. Every now and then I wish I could do another one sooner, but I don't think it would be right given Pip and Cheeky's health right now. Mine are my spoiled babies and add so much to my life. Like you said they are very loved. I got to play with the fiddle club the other night. I always enjoy that. Next time I may take the bass ukulele and try it. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Good evening everyone!! I have had dogs all my life since I was 6. My first dog was a Dachshund named Tigger. I have a scar from him when his tooth got caught in my lip when we were goofing around. I have so much guilt about him because when my mom's boyfriend moved in with us he took him to the shelter. I know I couldn't have done anything at my age, but I feel so bad about it. I can't remember a time I didn't have dogs! Laura, yes, we just talk about one book per meeting. We used to meet every month, but about 10 years ago, the supervisor made us cut back to every other month. Our mystery readers' group which is self run, meets every month. They all read a different book on a particular theme. Carol, that's funny! Reminds me of this! Dee, it was just a little while before I went to college to get my masters' degree. So I'd already formed my deep affection for dogs! The dog came into our back yard and I went out there to fill the kiddie pool with water for my dogs because it was hot. He (the dog) growled a little at me and I said sternly, "stop it!" So he stopped. Then when the pool was full, I walked over to turn the water off and that's when he attacked! I pulled my finger out of his mouth, then he latched on to my arm. I managed to get my arm out of his mouth and ran inside. My dogs just stood there and watched! My brother was going to go out there with a baseball bat. I was hysterical and said "don't go out there!" My dad took me to the hospital. My finger healed really well and you can hardly see the scar but the one on my arm is distinctive! Anick, I agree with Leslie! Canadians come up with the best names!!!
