The only advantage with papers is when you want a breed that is known to having health issues. The papers usually mean that the genetic test as been done to make sure the parents don't have the defect and it is a tool to remove the faulty genes from the breed. It can be used as a tool to help in someway.

Lisa, I sometimes feel guilty about the dog we had when I was young. A black lab named Salina. When we got her we lived on a little river and had a mile of undeveloped wooded area beside our house. We had lots of trees and a good sized yard. Then we moved to another state and had a smaller yard with no trees. My parents eventually gave her to someone my grandparents knew who had a farm. I am sure she was happy to have a whole farm to roam and play on, but I feel like we failed her. Had it been my and my brother's choice we would have kept her. So, the mystery group don't all read the same book to discuss? Guess it is a mystery what everyone will read. hehe. What was the supervisor's thinking in cutting back to every other month? I tend to read a few books a month. I would have moved on and read enough in two months that I would have half forgotten about the book for the discussion. hehe Dee, sounds like you are starting to get all your ducks in a row with selling the house. How wonderful that your nephew could come and help with that. Sending a for them leaving today. That's always hard. I had news yesterday. My aunt's dog, Tippy, got his wings. His health had been going downhill lately, but it's still hard to let them go. I'm not totally sure of his age, but I know he was older than Pippi, and she will be 14 in July. My aunt lives alone and Tippy was good company for her. She has mentioned before that because of her age she won't get another dog, and I think she is going to feel lost without a pet to love. - Laura

Dee, did Lisa and Jerry get by to work on the yard? So nice that you have others to help you out. Hope everyone is enjoying a nice Memorial Day. Anyone grilling or doing anything special? Nothing going on at my house. Boy I wish I was grilling. But no grill. I can almost smell burgers cooking on the grill. Goes right along with all the bacon I was smelling over in the cafe. This site makes me hungry sometimes! We had some temps in the 70s and 60s over the weekend and I was loving it. Back into the 80s today. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Hello all! And Happy Memorial Day!
We're not doing anything special today. I mopped the floors. Fun. Then I had to run to the store because my lettuce for the salad got frozen.
Dee, no, I'm not moving. Take a look at 72sold.com. They are the ones who let you stay in your home up to 6 months after you sell it.
Hope you all had a great day!

I took a break from the computer this weekend. I watched several horror movies. I posted about it in the field trips thread. I have just wanted to watch horror movies lately for some reason. I didn't grill out or anything. I never do that. I spent my weekend watching those movies & sleeping mostly. Anyone got any ideas for something good to watch? Walking all over the GYN Friday actually helped me alot. My knees feel way better. I'll let everyone know what my MRI states as soon as I find out. I probably won't know anything until Friday.

Dee, you are getting organized. I have been going through a few boxes lately. I wish I was better at getting rid of stuff. I'm bad to hang on to things because of sentimental value or thinking I can use things. But I did manage to get rid of a little. Sounds like you are going to be ready long before your move. And that's great. Will make it easier to plan I think. Ginger, this thread is the best spot for things pertaining to parents. So I'm glad you mentioned it here. I'm afraid I'm no help with horror movies though. I'm a big chicken and it's not my thing. Give me a mystery any day. Books or TV or movies. Lately I read more than actually sit and watch TV or movies. I sometimes have the TV on for background noise, but don't really sit and watch much. Heck, half the time I'm not listening that much either. hehe Ya for the walking helping your knees. Do you take a walk around your house or a park or anything very often? I used to be better about it. I need to get better again. I find a two or three good walks a week helps my back and arthritis. I have a pile of branches and limbs I need to drag to the street. I sure wish I had done it over the weekend while it was cooler. We've quickly warmed back up, and the humidity feels a little higher now. Ugh. Every other week they will pick up limbs and yard debris that is at the curb. Then the opposite weeks they will pick up large household items that won't fit in the trash bins. Furniture, appliances and such. I'm pretty sure this is a yard debris week. I was out in the yard pulling up some weeds. Not many, but a few here and there. I must have brushed my hand near my eye. Last night and this morning it has been so itchy. I am really hoping I didn't get into any poison ivy. I thought everything I had picked was trumpet vine, but there was one that was very small and it may not have been. Hoping whatever has my eye irritated won't last long. That will teach me to pull weeds without my gloves on. hehe - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Good afternoon everyone!
Dee, you are smart to start doing things now. I tend to procrastinate!!
Ginger, I am glad to hear the gym helped! That makes you feel good! To know that there is something that will help. Sorry, I don't watch horror movies either! I am a big wuss! I did just watch the mini series Mare of Easttown, I loved it. Very twisty ending.
Carol, we agree!!
Laura I hope you were able to get your debris taken care of! I am still trying to get motivated so I can start on my craft room.

Ginger, what did you do at the gym? Particular exercises? My knees are giving me trouble this week.
Hmm, what kind of horror movies do you like? The suspenseful ones or the gory ones? I saw a suspenseful one that I thought was good called "It Follows". Have you seen "The Bird Box"? Or "Stranger Things"? (It's a series, not a movie.) I have to agree that the "Zombieland" movies are pretty great. "Idle Hands" was entertaining. Have you seen "Sean of the Dead"? It is funny too. Maybe "Warm Bodies"? If you can find "Cooties", it is pleasantly weird. "Maggie" was a surprisingly serious movie despite the cast. Have you seen "The Evil Dead - Army of Darkness"? "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies"? "The Crazies"? "Train to Busan" is supposed to be good, but it is entirely sub-titled. (I haven't seen this one.) Have you seen “Insidious”, or “The Conjuring”?
Laura, maybe you need one of those clear welders' masks to wear when you clear the yard. It would keep you from brushing against your face!
Dee, you are right that we are an exciting bunch with out packing boxes and scrubbing floors! I pulled weeds today, so I am right there with the crowd.
Carol, any happy news from your house? I hope it was a beautiful day for you!

Good morning everyone Happy Wednesday Ginger nice you just stayed away from computer and watched horror shows and slept. I am not into horror movies I am more Hallmark Romance movies and the westerns that come on like Gunsmoke, Rifleman and Wagon Train, or comedies like Gilligan Island, Happy Days. I am glad to hear all the walking at the GYN helped your knees Carol thanks getting things but saving the daily stuff till after I visit in Florida in August. Hope you and your clan have a wonderful day Laura you are right I have most of the stuff that I can do that I don't use set aside but stuff I still use daily don't want to pack them away. So did you get the branches taken care of in your yard. I could not sleep last night so at 1 am I was taking my trash out to put on the curb I am amazed people have driveway they can park their cars but this morning they are all parked in front of my house right up to the mailbox on the left and the curb on the right. I just hope they are gone by the time the mail is delivered if the mail car can't pull up in front of mailbox it doesn't deliver the mail. Lisa thanks I have most of the stuff put aside but daily stuff I will have to wait till I get back in August from Florida. Leslie your pulling weeds this weekend I hope you did not rub your eyes like Laura. Took Rosemarie grocery shopping yesterday at Kroger no one wearing mask the guy bringing in carts said no longer have to wear them as Rosemarie and I walked in wearing one. Rosemarie wanted to go to Arby's get a turkey ranch bacon sandwich and rootbeer float instead of paying gas money bought my lunch. She informed me one of the members of the Senior Center won't be back Nancy who was at the next table because hse has dementia pretty bad her son hired neighbors to watch her and take care of her. Same person who told about Dorothy dying told about Nancy but she just told me about Nancy yesterday and Dorothy the day she heard about it. Walton Senior Center only had a few in attendance with members dying off when they have a soft opening July 3 if not enough people in attendance they may end up closing our center. Hugs Dee, Tori & Dallas
