I would be tempted the next time Rosemarie made a comment about not sticking family in a nursing home to reply with something like I loved Ward enough to know he needed more care than I could give him. So I made sure he had the care he needed and deserved to keep him safe. In fact a whole staff of people to help look after him, because his needs were more than what one person could provide. You could even add that you hope she never has to deal with family who have dementia to experience that herself because it's not an easy decision to make. AMEN!!! That is the perfect response, Laura! Dee, that is scary about Kathryn and her pond! A fence is a good idea, but a good one is not cheap. You are moving right along on that quilt!! Anick, yikes on the tornadoes and someone dying! I'm gad you didn't get them. I am sure I have a touch of the hoarding disease, as does Chuck! Ginger, I love this thread because we call all talk about anything! As for music, I like almost all of it. But when I turn on the TV to a music channel for cleaning, it is always 80s music! I love James Taylor, CCR, the Eagles, Queen, Elton John, The Beatles, Ray Charles, Jackson Browne and so many more! Laura, oh, I am so sorry your uke buddies aren't coming! What happened? Sorry about all the work you did that is now wasted! So frustrating! Carol, I admire people who can have a minimalist lifestyle! I sure wish I could!

Good morning everyone Happy Wednesday Carol how sweet your got Pooks a new harness that said Emotional Support Animals which he is indeed for you. I am pitching things I haven't used in one year or taking to Goodwill no sense in packing them to move to Florida if I haven't used them. Laura it is good that you are young enough to do all those things to your house and you are right getting parts is not as expensive it is the labor they charge you to put it in for you. But older people have no other choice. Ginger there are videos on you tube to show you how to do tee shirt quilts, knitting and crocheting for beginners, for left handers, for right handers and doing the videos you learn at your own speed. Lowes has lessons on how to do certain things in your house and I am sure there are videos to show you how to do those things. Anick I wish I could see Marc Train room I just love how people display their train sets. I am so sorry to hear you had a lot of storms but glad no tornados hit your home but it is for all those that were affected by tornados and their homes destroyed. My doctor yesterday gave me a gold star said my blood work was the best she has seen all day and I have everything caught up that I am suppose to with Covid Shots, Flu Shots, Shingles Shots, Pneumonia shots, mammogram, bone density with all I had going on in my life. I told her since I last saw her my husband died she apologized. She asked if she could schedule my next follow up appointment I told her I am moving back to Florida in August can't stand the cold. She said she did not blame me one bit so she asked if she could give me a as she has enjoyed being my doctor. I told her I enjoyed having her as my doctor. She asked if I had family in Florida I said cousins but not close. I said I had family in Dayton Ohio who never comes so I might as well move to Florida I have friends there I lived in Florida and worked there. Did not go to Rosemarie as I had my doctor appointment and Di had to go shopping to get things for the house while she is gone 2 weeks and to get things for her and her granddaughter flying to California on Saturday. Today going to play games with them at 9 . I have the tee shirts ready to sew to the blanket though my tag hasn't arrived yet may do the sewing when I get back from Rosemarie. Hugs Dee, Tori & Dallas

Too bad I am too far away from you Ladies, I did study in electricity, I can wire a whole house and do electric repairs.
I like a lot of different music too , I did built up a pretty mixed up playlist on youtube.
Ginger, Dee is right, you can find all kind of tutorials on youtube !
Marc is a hoarder, me, I am the kind that say that if I have not used the thing in 2 years than I don't need it.

I agree Dee with you knew when to get more help with Ward. For me it was hard to send Uncle Dick away so he could be cared for. But He needed someone 24/7 and it was more then I could do. My hubby and both our kids had jobs and would help as they could. But still Uncle Dick needed more. Rest assured sweetheart you did your best and beyond. Just let me near anyone that doubts it!! A person should walk just 5 minutes in another's shoes before they open their mouth. You deserves happiness!! I will feel better for you when you are in Florida again!! Today is mostly cloudy with sprinkles. Stay safe all. Carol & Pookah

Dee- My family has had to put plenty of relatives in various nursing homes over the years. We had no choice. They needed 24/7 care that was impossible for us to provide. They also needed trained people to care for them. Lisa- I like everyone you mentioned as well, but nothing beats good ol' hard rock/heavy metal! Anick- I need thousands of dollars of electrical work done. It's too bad you can't come over here to help. Ok, I am curious, what does everyone do or what did everyone used to do for a living? I babysit alot of babies & children for a while. I did telemarketing. That was mostly all until (thank goodness!), I got hired at Social Security as an Office Automation Clerk in the Teleservice Center on March 20th 2000. I got promoted to a Secretary in the Workload Support Unit on January 8th 2006 & that's what I am still doing. I love it & don't really have a desire to go anywhere else at SSA.

Dee, it sounds like you have a great doctor! I hope you can find one as good as that in Florida!! Glad you got a good health report!!
Anick, that is a great skill to have!! I have some ceiling fans I need installed! Wanna come to Arizona? Haha!
Carol, you are so right! It must be so hard to make that decision but it is for the best, but all concerned! Walk a mile in my shoes, indeed!!
Ginger, so who are your favorites?
I worked at the dog track all the while I was going to college. I would sometimes work at the horse track, usually on derby day or during the summer. After I got my master's degree, I became a librarian and have been doing that since 1995. I love it. (Undergraduate degree was in elementary education and that was NOT for me! Made the mistake of substitute teaching and I hated it!)

I'm bad to think I can repurpose things. And often I do. Other things have had sentimental value that I hadn't been ready to let go of yet. Lisa, I did get to do a zoom session with my uke buddies. So we still got to play. And hopefully next time they can make it here. They had family that came to visit and brought a dog with them, who turned out to have whip worms. So out of caution they did not bring their dogs and come here today. I had hoped they could come even if they didn't bring their dogs, but didn't work out. I was feeling more frustrated than I should have about the work done to get ready, but some of it was things that would need to be done to get ready for setting up a guest room again. So not wasted. Wow Dee, you are zipping through that quilt. I still can't get over how quickly you get projects done. Um, Anic I wish I had the money for supplies and had the guest room ready. I'd lvoe to have my house re-wired. hehe. Actually I wouldn't want to go in the attic for that in the summer. Way too hot! But I do wish you could walk me through changing a couple of light fixtures. Carol, I think people who have not dealt first hand with dementia and/or long term illness just have no idea what it takes to be the caregiver. I am so with you on walking 5 minutes in someone else's shoes. Ginger, sounds like we're in the same boat on electrical work. hehe. My wiring is over 100 years old now and I would love to replace it. Well, I got to enjoy a zoom ukulele session this morning. Not quite as nice as in person, but better than nothing. Then I headed to my parents house to help with the washer again. One leg kept coming off the little foam square. So mom and I finally convinced dad to take out the foam squares and put a foam mat underneath. Took a while to get all that in place, but fingers it will stay in place a little better now. And now I am pooped. Been pooped a lot trying to get extra things done around the house. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Good morning everyone Happy Thursday Anick you certainly are well skilled and talented to do electric work Carol thank you for your support it just hurt me that Rosemarie knew how hard it hit me to put Ward in a nursing home and for her to bring up the subject and add the comment she would never put her family in a nursing home and took care of them to the end. That is one of the reasons I will be so glad to get to Florida into a gated community. If she claims she is such a good friend she would not make comments that hurt. Friends you uplift and support not tear them down. Her family died from cancer and were still able to talk, see and hear and communicate with her. Ginger when a teenager I did a lot of babysitting but worked after school at Parkmoor Restaurant (like Frisch) as a carhop delivering food to cars then I worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken making the gravy and mashed potatoes, then I worked at Woody's Supermarket in the Chicken department cutting up chicken parts putting in display cases helping in the fish department and in the delicatessen slicing meat and cheese for customers once I graduated from high school I went on days at Woody until I was 21 then my sister and I moved to New Jersey. I worked at a secretary at Prentice Hall Publishing Company in New Jersey for 5 years then moved back to Ohio worked at St. Elizabeth Hospital in the Medical Records Department on 3rd shift as file girl got married worked at Digital Equipment a computer company doing secretarial work then moved to Florida with the ex working at Digital Equipment in Palm Bay, Florida got a divorce came back to Ohio met my husband Ward married him lived in Kentucky worked at Ceramic Coating Company a a secretary for 7 years then worked at Display Specialties for 3 years moved to Florida worked for City of Ocala starting in Electric Substation ending up in Public Works started in Electric Administrative tech but when went to Engineering they had the step programs for secretaries to be Administrative Specialist I, II, III I took test passed them worked my way to Administrative Specialist III. I took college courses during the evening while working to get my AS degree in Business when I graduated asked the boss for another position with more pay or an increase in pay they used to give it to employees who graduated from college. He told me they no longer give an increase in pay for graduation (I believe that was a lie they still did it for young people but could not prove it but I was 60) and he said I was staying put in the job I had. So when Ward had his stroke I had to retire. So from 2013 to 2018 I was a caregiver for Ward. In March 2019 I went to his son crying I need help you promised if I brought him to Kentucky you would help me and he said all I can tell you put him in a nursing home take him to the hospital they will keep him till he gets in the nursing home. He went into the nursing home April 1, 2019 it killed me doing that the place was so nasty then when the virus hit I was not allowed to see him 8 months then in August 2020 I was told I could visit him outside once a week for 15 minutes then October 3 they call me they made arrangements for the family to come inside so I knew he was dying that we could go inside we sat for 7 hours with him but he did not die while I was there he died at 4:30 on the next morning. So I have been retired just busy doing crafts. :Lisa she was a good doctor she is young has strawberry blonde hair like I did when I was her age. Sweet young lady. Laura when you sit alone in a house with no one calling or visiting you it is very easy to get a lot down on the quilt. I go to Rosemarie from 9 to 11:30 on Monday through Friday and on Saturday and Sunday from 12:30 to 2:30 after that home alone with the girls so as not to dwell on anything I have to keep myself busy and that is why I can get my projects done so quickly. You certainly got a lot of work done preparing for visitors yet the visitors never I know that seemed frustrating but as you said you had to get it cleaned up anyway. I bet you are pooped. Now just sit down and relax with your fur babies. You had a good idea to put the foam mat under the washer instead of pieces it stays better on one big piece instead of four smaller pieces. Picking Rosemarie up at 10 to drive her to Olive Garden where we will meet her daughter Di for lunch as today Di has to take her husband to infusion and it is for 4 hours and she is not allowed in the hospital with him so we have lunch and by the time we are done almost time for him to get out of his infusion. Hugs Dee, Tori & Dallas

I can't remember if I mentioned it anywhere on this site or not, but have a funny to tell on Pippi. Sorry if it is a repeat. I had decided I was going to eat my lunch on the sun porch the other day. I fixed it and headed towards the front of the house with Pippi right ahead of me. She turned to go up the stairs and I told her we're going outside. I opened the front door and Cheeky and I went out. I stayed by the door with it open waiting for Pippi. I waited and waited and waited and no Pippi. So I called her again, and again waited and waited and waited. No Pippi. So I peaked around the door to see where she was, and there she was standing behind the door with her nose at the crack near the hinge looking like if you would open this door wider I would be happy to come out and join you. hehe. I helped her find her way to open part of the door and out onto the sun porch. Guess she could see that sliver of light and thought she was in the right place. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

A little doggy friend of my boys always do the same thing Pippi did, we always have to remember about it to be sure to put her in front of the door.
Laura, light fixtures are very simple to change, all you need to do it to look at what wire is where when you remove the old one and put them in the same way on the new one. Usually you have only 2 or 3 wires going to the fixture. Let me know when you want to do it and if you can put up with my heavy French accent I can guide you in a video chat on messenger if you want and if it would make you feel better.

Bless Pippi's heart. We had our house wireing updated back in 2000. We were using extension cords and thats not a good idea. I had a portable washer machine back then and the electric cord bit me and that was enough! Ginger I used to babysit for many different kids, laundered the shirts for a local Pizza Hut, inserted screws into rubber parts for a local place, ran a punch press, sorted ladder pieces at a local ladder factory. took care of cats and dogs for friends and mowed. I'm glad to just be a caretaker of my own family though. There is no place like home

Good afternoon everyone! , Tori! Dee, wow, you sure did a lot of stuff!! It still makes us mad that Rosemarie made those comments to you! In your head, you know she doesn't know what she is talking about, but we know it still hurts! Anick, we are so impressed that you can do electrical stuff and that is so nice of you to offer to video chat with Laura! Laura, I am so glad you are back! And getting to play with your uke buddies is always a good thing!! Well, better safe than sorry about the worms, we say. Gosh, we have to laugh at Pippi for that, but it is also kind of ! Carol, you did some interesting things in your life, huh? Glad you get to spend all your time with your furs and family now!! Leslie, we felt a little dizzy reading all of that! Hee hee!!

Good morning everyone Happy Friday Lisa thank you for the Greeting for Tori. Yes it did hurt what Rosemarie said when she knew how upset I was having to put him in a nursing home. Yesterday while we were eating at Olive Garden she ask Di how far Target was from the restaurant but I told her you ordered food to take home no way am I going shopping at Targets and leaving food sit in a hot car. We each ordered some entrees from Olive Garden to take home and eat today and tomorrow. So she said well then we can go tomorrow or Saturday to Target. Leslie I am sure you have done so interesting things as your write books, paint, sew, crochet or knit. Carol that is nice after doing all that stuff you are happy just to be at home being a caretaker for your family. Anick so nice of you to offer to walk Laura through the wiring changes by video chat since you can't be there in person. Laura in a way it is funny about precious Pippi but bless her heart not being able to see the door being held opened for her. I had the blanket sewn to the pieces the way the video told me the right sides together then turn them inside out so the right sides would be facing you I did not like how it looked no border so I turned it back inside and started ripping it apart so when I finish ripping it apart which is a slow and tedious job I will put the wrong sides together and overlap the blanket to the top so it can be the border. Will post picture when finished but ripping it apart is slow work don't want to rip the material. Hugs, Dee, Tori & Dallas

Anick, Pippi did it again with the door yesterday evening. I will have to start paying more attention to that. The way the layout of the house is, Pippi comes up to the wrong edge of the door first. And the sun porch is much brighter than the room. So she sees the crack of light on the henge side first. At least I know to be on the look out for that now. I had hoped my dad was going to help me change the lights. One of his degrees is in electrical engineering and he has changed lights before. Sadly he can't make it up the stairs well now and both lights that I want to change are on the second floor. I guess my fear in doing it is disturbing the 100 year old wiring. I think if it were newer wiring I wouldn't worry so much. I envy you Carol having your rewiring done. I'm thinking your house is older than mine if I remember right. Mine was built in 1920. Electrical and replacing windows are the two big things I would still like to do to this house. Now if I would just buy a winning lottery ticket I could get right on that. hehe Leslie, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you haven't run circles around me! Have you been up to any fun projects? Lisa, yeah I agree - laughing at Pip being on the wrong edge of the door, but also a little to see. I'm going mostly with the laughing because I'd rather laugh than cry. For how bad her vision must be I think she does pretty darn good. I've even moved some things around the house and she seems to have remapped things quickly. Dee, that was a good idea to order some extra food for the next day. Woo-hoo! When you meet for lunch like that, does Di ever take her mother shopping afterwards rather than you? Ugh on the ripping apart. You are right, a slow, tedious job. Did your label arrive? Does your friend know how close you are to being done? I got into a nest of ants and boy am I itchy today. I may have to break down and take some Benedryl, but if I do I might as well be prepared to take a nap, too. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)
