Yes Laura our house was built in 1904, but the kitchen was added after that. Benedryl might help. it makes me sleep better. Pippi is so adorable. Sometimes Pooks will be in a room just standing there and ask him why are you headed that way, just standing there? Then I either pick him up or tap my leg and say come on. All our babies are very precious Carol & Pooks

Lisa some of my favorite bands are Dokken, Quiet Riot, The Scorpions, Dio, Hanoi Rocks, Warrant, Motley Crue, Poison, Alice In Chains, just to name a few. I also seemed to love bands named after cities such as Chicago (my fav), Boston & Kansas. Some 80's bands I can't get enough of are Def Leppard, Duran Duran & Journey.
Wow Dee, you sure did alot. That's quite a resume!
I used to love babysitting Carol. I loved the babies. I didn't even mind all those nasty diapers. The thing I hated the most about the babies was getting them to eat. I'd know they were hungry, but they would want to play games with their bottle or they'd make one heck of a mess when I'd try spoon feeding them from a jar.

Yesterday I weeded the garden and sat on a nest of ants. I am pretty itchy too. 😆
When he got older, Geordie used to stand at the right side of a door to go out even if the door opened on the left.
I haven’t been doing anything for far too long. I am having more problems with my right eye. It looks like maybe I damaged something when I fell 2 years ago. I don’t know how I am going to be able to do anything let alone work when I can’t be near light, and I can’t do repetitive tasks with my right arm.

everyone! Dee, geez on Rosemarie feeling it is okay to talk to you/about you like that, and then in the next breathe asking you to drive her somewhere!! Laura, I'm glad to hear how quickly Pippi is adapting to her loss of eyesight. Dogs are pretty good at adjusting. Must better than us! Cool your dad is an electrical engineer, but sorry he is having so many problems getting around. And sorry about the ants!! Carol, Ranger does that, too, and so did Tango. Sometimes they just need a reason to move, I guess! Ginger, I, personally, never did like babysitting! I didn't like having to feel responsible for another human! Leslie, I'm sorry you are having so many issues with yur eye and your arm. Did you hurt your arm that time you =fell in the street? I remember that! But what about your arm? What happened with that? Does that keep you from doing all your wonderful, creative artwork? Wow, my house was built in 1963. I thought IT was old! Hee hee!

My arm is OK. Knitting or crocheting just uses the same muscles over and over, and it can make a pinched nerve in the neck worse.
I never liked babysitting all that much. I don’t have a maternal instinct, so it felt very unnatural to me.
Lisa, I guess your house is just middle aged! 😆

Good morning everyone Happy Saturday Anick I loved the pictures of all the flowers you posted on facebook. Maybe I will have a walking body when I move to Florida and go to a botanical garden there but Rosemarie not much into walking Laura when we meet Di on Thursday she has to go back to the hospital to her husband who is having infusion but I would not take Rosemarie when she ordered food not a good idea to leave food in a hot car one time before she wanted to stop to eat at I Hops and it was taking them so long to wait on us I had to go out to the car get her chicken salad she bought brought it in and told her to hold it was the only thing we had that waws suppose to be refrigerated. No I have not told Mary how far I am on the quilt I just posted the one picture so she could see and tell me if she liked it when I had all the pieces cut out and laid out. I have the border pinned will sew today after I get done with Rosemarie have no idea what she plans on doing she just posted me she will call me later. Di is leaving this morning at 9 with her granddaughter going to California to stay till July 10 with Rosemarie sister Pat. So I know will probably have to be doing a lot of running around as Di said her mom will probably want to do a lot of shopping or else set up times to visit her friends. Di said July 6 the Senior Center will be opened that will keep her busy. The tag was shipped suppose to arrive between June 26 and June 30th. So anytime this week. Once I get the tag and sew it on I will post a picture and let Mary know she can pick it up. Ginger of course I have a big resume remember I am way older than you are. I am 70 started working at 15 and had to retire at 62 to take care of my husband. Wow Carol your house was built in 1904. That is so impressive. Leslie I am so sorry that your eye has been bothering you that is really rough and your arm where you can't do repetitive task so you can't do too much. I know how much you loved your crafts Lisa , Rosemarie doesn't think she is doing anything wrong makes me wonder if that was how she was with her friend Dale before me who moved further down in Kentucky used to send her birthday gifts then told her just cards then she just dropped all communications with her all together. My sister called me on my birthday to wish me a Happy Birthday said she won't make it down the end of June but in July to help me get the house ready for selling and let me know when in August we are going to Florida. I did see on the news a 12 story condo in Surfside Florida collapsed it was on the beach. Lot of people missing. I thought it may be a sinkhole because when I lived in Florida down in Tampa a guy who lived with his brother and his family in his grandparents home the house sunk into a sinkhole the part where his bedroom was the brother ran out of his room to see what all the noise was tried to save his brother the police and fireman made him get out of the house with his family they eventually covered the hole and his brother buried in it they could never find him said too dangerous to try digging the stuff out of the hole. Lisa my daughter in law called me last night to say they were heading to their campsite and taking their dog Chloe with them and then she informed me they found out Wednesday that her dad has throat cancer they have to do test to see what type of treatment to give him if it is anywhere else I told her I was sorry to hear that I will add him to my prayer list. Jerry works for her dad so if something happens to her dad he will have to find a job elsewhere. He has been working for her did since his company closed up and gave all employees a severance pay. He worked at that company since he was 19 almost 30 years and they closed up Hugs Dee, Tori & Dallas

We are not sure how old is my house, the archives did burn down, but we did find traces of it well described dating from 1918. We were lucky because all had been redone in it in the 4 years before we got it. I did get to help a few people on my street who also had old homes, I did help put up new wires and bring it all up to standard and they did give me a hand in other things in exchange like cleaning my driveway of snow or doing my grass.
Laura, when that little dog is at my house I put a towel over the wrong opening so she doesn't see light coming from there and that does help.
Dee, our botanical garden is very big and we can't see it all in one day so we always get a pass for a whole year and go back often. True that I often waste time in one spot like yesterday I did spend a good half hour with the ducks.

Carol, I suspect the dogs adapt to the loss of sight so much easier than we adapt to their loss of sight. They are amazing at what they can do. I know Pippi's vision is just about all gone. Yet I think most people seeing her around the house would not realize it. Does Pooks get more under your feet now that his vision is bad? Pippi sure does. I've wondered at times if I wore a bell or something that made noise if she would give me a little more space. I feel like I am nearly tripping over her all the time lately. By the way, I think it is so neat the age of your house. I just love older homes. They seem to have a character and charm that you often don't see in newer homes. Or perhaps it's just a difference in styles, but I sure like the old styles. Ginger, your talking about trying to get children to eat reminds me of a girl I used to take care of. She did gymnastics right after school, and she often came home from gymnastics REALLY hungry. But she would be grumpy (because she needed to eat) and woudn't want to eat. Once you could get her to eat something she was a happy young lady again, but sometimes convincing her to eat something was tough. Leslie, doh! Those ants can be nasty little devils. I've got bits on both arms, one arm up to my shoulder, and some on my torso. And they just keep itching. That is Pippi - standing at the right side of the door looking at the sliver of light, while the door opens on the left. Sending you a gentle Hmm. I think you are going to have to get creative with a job in the dark. Night watch man? Cat burgler. Although why anyone would burgle cats is beyond me. hehe. Lisa, I liked babysitting. Sometimes better than working with adults. With children, well, you expect them to act like children. And when they do get out of line you can do something about it, being the person in authority. On the other hand when you work with adults, who act like children, there often isn't much you can do about it. Especially when the ones acting like children are the ones in authority. hehe. Dee, I totally agree it's not good to leave food in a hot car. That was good thinking to bring the chicken salad in while waiting at IHOP. Cars can heat up so quickly. Dee, I saw that about the condo in Surfside. I just can't even imagine. I hope anyone who died in that did so quickly. How they ever find anyone to rescue them is beyond me. My heart goes out to all those families. And in the case of the single family home with the sinkhole. I cannot imagine just having to give up and not try and find someone. That would be hard to live with. Dee, I'm really sorry to hear about Lisa's dad and his cancer. I hope they have caught it early and it hasn't spread. I also hope he will do well with treatments and come through with flying colors. I have a cousin who is a cancer survivor. I'm pretty sure his was in the throat. Anick, that is neat that you have an older home, too. I love old houses. I also love hearing about neighbors helping each other. I think they got the better end of the deal - help rewiring the house vs clearing snow. I'd make that deal. Of course that would really be an easy one here. We don't get much snow. hehe. Ahhhh! A towel to cover the light at the door is a good idea. I had not thought of that. So far I have been trying to get Pippi over to the other side before I open the door, but I think the towel would be even more helpful. Great idea! Thanks for that. The batanical gardens sound lovely. Dee, the area you are hoping to find a home - is there a botanical garden near by? I hope so. When I was active with the dog walking group sometimes we would walk at the botanical gardens over at the Univeristy of TN. It wasn't a very big garden, but sure made for a pretty spot to walk. I should be down sorting through more stuff in the soon to be guest room, but I'm having trouble getting motivated. I have that trouble a lot when it comes to getting things done around my house. Sigh. Dogs are napping at the moment. If only they would be content to nap down there while I went through things. It would help make it go along . I am contantly stepping over and around them it seems lately. Just the same, I am glad for their company. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Leslie, I'm out of the loop. What happened to your right eye? My dry eyes have been acting up this weekend. I haven't slept well for the last week & it's starting to affect my eyes.
Laura that is the way I felt about the children. I was the one in charge. I agree about how that's better than dealing with adults who act like children which is exactly how I feel alot of adults behave. I feel there are correct ways to act childish & immature & there are incorrect ways.
Lisa when I did my babysitting I was thinking that I would get married & have at least one child someday. I looked at caring for children (especially babies) as great practice. I wanted to know what it was like to have to care for a baby & a small child all day & into the evening without any help. I loved the babies alot more than the children. I have always loved babies.
Laura I know it's hard watching Pippi decline. It is always hard to watch your dog or cat decline. Twinkle always stayed underfoot too the whole time she was with me. That was just how she was. I always had to look down whenever I walked or I'd step on her for sure. Twinkle never developed problems with her sight or mind. Her problems her all with her body. She had all sorts of things wrong with her, but it was cancer that killed her.
Dee I hope you will enjoy Florida. I know how hard moving is. I cannot imagine moving to another state. I have lived in Alabama my whole life. I've never even been out of the South!

Years ago I went to the Park of Roses near I lived. That day I got 3 spider bites on my leg and found out that I have a pretty bad reaction to spider bites! That was probably the itchiest week I ever had. I was the amusement of my coworkers because the only thing that helped was calamine lotion. I looked like some sort of confection!
Ginger, two years ago I fell and hit my head. (I fell forward and landed on my chin hard enough to stun myself.) It looks like I injured my neck when I fell. I pinched a nerve or hurt a muscle, and now my right eye is being affected. It is drooping badly enough that I am having trouble closing my lower lid. It feels like the right side of my face is partially numb.
Ginger, would you still consider marriage and children?
Dee, I hope Lisa's father is OK. That family has had its share of difficult news lately. I am glad they are taking Chloe with them when they go camping. That pup deserves to get to hang out with her family!

Leslie, l remember when you fell. I didn't realize how serious it was! I sure hope it will improve!
Dee done people just don't have the empathy gene, l think. It's too bad and at her age she'll never learn.
Anick that is cool about your house! So it was around since WWI! That's a great idea about the towel!
Laura, l feel for you with having to watch Pippi decline. I went through that with Tango and it is so hard. I like your idea of wearing a bell!
Ginger, except when l was little, l never wanted kids. I say l am child free not childless! I hope you can get some sleep!
We have the Desert Botanical Gardens here and they're very cool, but not right now! They had an installation with glass art from Chihuli a couple years ago and it was awesome!

Good morning everyone Happy Sunday Lisa you are right at her age she will never learn yesterday she decided not to play games but to do her laundry I said fine with me I will work on my quilt she said if I get bored come over and sit a while I said I doubt if I get bored. So I never went over not sure about today she will post on my timeline if she wants to do something today after church so maybe around 11 or 12 depends if she eats first. It won't bother me at all if she doesn't want to do something I will gladly stay home. Yesterday I went to Taco Bell got me some taco supremes but they dropped on my favorite tee shirt took it downstairs sprayed Shout it All on the front of tee shirt put it in the wash right away but after drying it I see the stains are there. Disappointed me. Ginger watching kids when I was younger no problem but I don't think I would want to watch the kids of today. I was married thinking of having a family but some where on my dad's side the girls don't have children. My sister adopted 4 at different times since she couldn't have kids but how they treat her I am so glad I don't have kids I just raised step sons. My ex husband the first his son was 4 when we were married I raised him till he was 11 then we divorces his son died at the age of 36 and Ward's son was 11 when I married Ward it was rough those teen age years I tell you especially when they like to say you are not my mom though he comes to cut grass once a week but I dog sit in return when they want to go away. It really hurt me when he told me to bring his dad back to Kentucky when we lived in Florida and they would help take care of him. When we came back they very seldom came over and when I told him I needed help he just tells me take him to the hospital they will put him in a nursing home. Anick I think it is wonderful you helping neighbors rewiring their house and they would do something in exchange for you like shovel your driveway when it snowed or mowing your grass in the summer. that is smart to buy a season pass to the Botanical Garden since you can't see it all in one day and glad you stopped to visit the ducks Laura my Tiffany when she lost her sight around 13 years old she also lost her hearing so not sure if a bell would help or not. My girls are underfoot and they are not even blind. I hope those people went quickly too if any are alive and waiting to be rescued would be a lot of suffering. The longer it takes very little chance of survival. There is a Botanical Garden in Orlando Florida which would be about an hour away maybe they subdivision will have a day trip going there where they supply the bus but otherwise there is Silver Springs Amusement Park where Ward and I had season passes would take a walk around there it was a beautiful park they used to hold weddings there and benches where you could sit and people watch but it may have changed I have lived here 5 years and Ward got the dementia in 2014 so I think the last time we were there was in 2012 when we went to see the Christmas light. Leslie thanks will found out more once he gets his test finished. Sorry you are having such a hard time with your eye and neck. I remember when you fell too. Getting ant bites or spider bites are no fun. Those fire ants in Florida have a nasty sting when they bite you. I am glad they took Chloe too I am surprised though they said because of heat they usually preferred me to watch her and going to be 87 today but they might as well get used to taking her since it won't be long I am gone Hugs Dee, Tori & Dallas

Ginger, I enjoyed taking care of babies as well, but also enjoyed children as they grew up, too. Sometimes not always the terrible twos or threes. hehe. But once past that I enjoyed their creativity. They can come up with such a magical world and that can be a lot of fun. Leslie, sorry your eye and one side of your face is giving you trouble. I'm trying to remember, was Bells Palsy contributing to some of that before? Sending you a gentle and hope it imporves soon. I know that has to be incomfortable and make it hard to get things done. Lisa, I'll bet the Desert Botanical Gardens are lovely. Hmm, not good right now? Is that because of the heat making it uncomfrtable for people? Dee, doh! on the shirt. Sorry the Shout didn't take care of it. That is frustrating. I think that would be a challenge to watch out for and take care of a dog who couldn't see or hear. You have to get creative to make sure their day isn't totally boring. Pippi has always wanted to be near, especially when I am in the kitchen, but she would try to stay out from under my feet. Now, as I walk she tries to stay where she is touching my legs. Most of the time she is between my legs or weaving back and forth and it really is difficult to walk. If she was a little smaller I'd put her in the carrier I used for Cheeky on walks sometimes and let her ride along and be close. But she's a little too big for that. I'm going to keep my fingers that maybe some new botanical gardens have popped up that will be even closer for you. Although going with a group and not having to do the driving sounds nice. Not only you don't have to drive, but you have others to enjoy it with. Sounds like a lovely day out. Carol, do you have any crafts or hobies you like to work on? I know you do a little gardening and have some lovely flowers. How are the sunflowers coming along? The green beans I tried to grow - both in the yard and in a flower pot - didn't do anything. Well, they sprouted up and the squirrels or rabbits got them. This morning wasn't too bad outside, but warming up quickly. I was surprised that the humidity didn't feel too bad this morning. It's been on the rise it seams. It's gotten cloudy outside and looks like we might get a little shower. The pups are napping and I don't think it would take much for me to want to do the same. A little rain to lull me to sleep would suit me fine. hehe - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Dee, I don’t say it often enough, but I am amazed and appalled at some of those ladies in your neighborhood. I can’t believe that they treat you like their personal servant. I hope when the senior center opens up they will have someplace else to spend their time. Last night I found a sports medicine clinic that specializes in spine and soft tissue injuries. I plan to call tomorrow to see if they are taking new patients. Paws ! Aw, it is sweet that Pippi wants to be close to you! It is unfortunate that she is also a tripping hazard. Ooh, I have to agree that little kids are wonderful when they reach that imaginative stage! I used to love drawing pictures with my niece when she was young. We would make up stories and draw what was happening. Later I packed up a bunch of what we’d drawn and sent then to my brother/her dad who was stationed in Iraq. (I always enjoyed sensing silly things anywhere that I knew my brother’s mail was being censored. 😆) Lisa, what was the Chihuli glass exhibit like?
