Big big hugs Dee. We are all with you today. Laura a few or several years ago I saw a heartbeat stuffy but can't remember where. Must have been a pet supply catalog. That would be great but if the animal dug and chewed it, no. I think Chewy might have self warming mats. Annette I bet your flowers are beautiful! I have Zinnias starting and a couple Morning Glories are sprout to. Now waiting for the sunflowers LOL!! I think the squirrels are to! Pookah has never been a picky eater. I think he got his big appetite from our big boy Walker BOL!! Sweet Alexandria wasn't picky but Molly was. She didn't like many veggies so I would try and hide them in her food. She ate around them Yesterday made 4 months since she became an . Today is a sunny one and I'm glad. Sunshine helps the mood. Carol & Pookah

Lisa, I haven't ordered the heart beat thing yet, but keep thinking it might be a comfort to Pippi. I know the vet has mentioned cognitive decline, but I still feel it's related to her vision loss. May be more to it, I don't know, but either way I am hoping maybe the heart beat will be a comfort to her. Annette, I know I've heard you talk about Bertie being picky before. That always seems like such a strange idea to me. Other than when mine have been ill they like food! Not eating is always a sign something must be wrong. Dee, wonder if there is any way you can contact facebook and ask what the threshold is for how many comments you can post a day. Or better still if there is a way to raise that. Know that you have a lot of people here that will be with you in spirit this afternoon when you head to the cemetery to wish Ward a Happy Birthday. Give those babies a when you get home. The grilled trout is my favorite at Red Lobster, but it happens to be my favorite kind of fish to eat. Carol, I've seen both the stuffy with the heart beat device and just the device alone on Amazon. I'm looking at just the device. I was thinking I might put it under the bed. Haven't totally decided yet. Amazon has so many different choices. There was one I was looking at that has different heart rates for different sized dogs/cats. Not multiple settings, but different ones you can buy. Guess smaller dogs have a higher heart rate than larger ones. The one I think I am going to get though sounds like more a human heart rate and battery charge lasts longer. I have always liked Zinnias. So pretty. Do your squirrels bother the sunflowers before they get tall? for the 4 month mark. Gosh I wish they could stay healthy and with us a lot longer. Nothing too exciting going on here. A chilly damp morning and I am feeling it in my bones. I'll still take it over hot and humid though. That will be here soon enough. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Good morning everyone!! Hugs, Dee, for your grief today. I know it is hard and we are certainly with you in spirit. Hugs, Carol, for the 4 month mark. It sure doesn't feel like it! Laura, it makes me so to think of Peppy Pippi losing her cognitive abilities! She is a fighter, though, and I am hoping it is a VERY slow progression! Sending her healing thoughts, and some for Cheeky, too. Annette, I think it is so important to have flowers! We NEED the bees they attract! I bet your garden is beautiful! Anick, it amazes us how much time some people can waste on FB!!

Good morning everyone Happy Thursday Carol lots of hugs on sweet Molly's 4th month at the bridge. I know how much you miss her since she was your soul dog. Thanks for your support Lisa what a scary situation at the library did you hear how the man made out? Thanks for your support. Laura hope you find what you are looking for to help Pippi Anick some people go overboard on their postings. I am only on Facebook a few hours each day for my dog groups and prayer group and widows group. Leslie how are things with you and Toby. Ginger we are for you with your knee problems Kathy and Stephen for you also. Annette stay warm with your winter Marty unable to view Toffee playing with Lulu (that was Ward's mom's name) as it took me to Instagram which I don't belong to. Yesterday was sunny but chilly a bit windy being 61 outside I had told Rosemarie on Sunday when she asked me when we can go to Walmart that I would take her on Thursday. Well yesterday after we were done playing games she said it is nice outside we can go to Walmart today instead of Thursday I told her no we can't going to the cemetery for Ward's birthday but Di said you know he is not there don't you. I said yes his spirit is gone but his ashes are there so paying my respect she said that is so stupid even putting stuff on Facebook wishing him a Happy Birthday you know he is not reading that stuff. People who claim you are their friends sure know how to make demeaning remarks. Of course Rosemarie never posted on my thread wishing Ward a Happy Birthday only on the Happy Thursday thread. I am so anxious for August to get here and head to Florida to house hunt. Rosemarie has told all her friends I am moving to Florida because when Alice the oldest lady came last week to pick up stuff Rosemarie had for her she called me to the car and said I hear you are moving to Florida I said yes in October she said she wishes me the best.. Jerry called last night mentioned it was his dad's birthday I said Yes I know I went to the cemetery to visit him. He said they are coming this evening to cut grass. Today going to be a beautiful clear 65 day to take Rosemarie to Walmart shopping I tried to get her to order online but claims they never have what she needs online Hugs Dee, Tori & Dallas

Laura, for dogs cognitive decline can be the lost of sight due to age or the decline in mobility, it is not only related to the brain abilities.
What kind of zinnias do you guys have? I love those flowers and always get 2 or 3 different kind. This year it is only 2, the profusion that get only about 12 inch high and look like a small bush and I have the state fair, that one is tall and narrow and as lots of colours.

Lisa, the vet has mentioned cognitive changes with Pippi, and he may be right, but when I watch and observe her I really feel it's just her vision. The vet had mentioned a vacant stare ... that fits in with not being able to see. What would you focus on if you are not seeing much of anything? I still see her figuring out ways around gates and barriers, finding the pet steps out on the sun porch even if they are moved, finding treats with her nose, etc. So I keep thinking it is just changes in vision and not her mental abilities. If it is mental, the vet has been saying it for close to a year now and I'm not really seeing a decline. So if there is something going on, thankfully it is slow to progress. If it is only her feeling less secure because of loss of vision, then I still think a heartbeat pillow or stuffie may still help. Boy I am guilty to waste time on FB sometimes. I go to play mindless games when my brain needs a break. I do keep up with some groups on there. It's an easy way to stay in touch and share information, etc. Hmm. What did I miss about a scary situation at the library? Looks like I missed photos of Toffee, too. Must be over in the cafe. Haven't made it there yet. Dee, I'm really sorry Di was so thoughtless in her comments. I think it is nice that you went to pay your respects at the cemetery. Do they have decoration day at the cemetery in your area? I wonder what Di thinks of that. Anick, I learned something new today - with the cognitive decline. I just assumed the vet meant brain abilities. Which reminds me I need to pull out the snuffle mats more often. Or puzzles and other things. I would like some Zinnias that are shorter - like yours about 12 inches high. I don't have any. There is a house in the neighborhood that has some that are really tall, but I think shorter ones would look better where they them - right by the sidewalk. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Dee I am very sorry for the hurt of what you thought were friends cause. On FB I do post Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to my parents even though they have been gone a long time. I do it because I am proud of them and will love them forever. I hope you have the best of your life when you get to Florida. Ward is always with you and the love is forever. People can be such a pain. Anywhere LOL!! Yes Molly and Sweet Alexandria and Precious were my heart and soul dogs. Precious was long ago. Cats Edwina, Emily, Jerry and Skipper from long ago were also. I've had many cats and several dogs but some just get so deep in you. They become your right arm/hand. I have and do love them all and would fight for them all and have but you know what I mean

Dee, I am so sorry your supposed friends can be so thoughtless. We all have different beliefs andd friends should NEVER put you down over differences!! I think you are right to honor Ward at his resting place. If they don't, they should just shut up about it!
Toffee, that is the cutest picture! (Note, it is not a video, for anyone thinking they are missing something!)
Laura, I am glad it is just visual! Dogs can do extremely well with vision loss! Hugs to you and Pippi!
Anick, I learned something, too! I thought it was just the brain. For Tango, it was his brain and his eye sight and I think his hearing, too. It is hard to watch them decline like that.
Carol, I know how much you are missing your Molly. I still miss my boy, Robideau, who I lost when I was about 14. He was a black poodle mix and such a love! We called him Robey. Of course, I miss every pet I've ever had, as I am sure all of you do too!
Laura it was over in the bark and woof thread where I mentioned it. A patron fell flat on his face right in front of me, and the hard tile floor!

Speaking of Facebook, I don't really get on a LOT during the day, but at night, before bed, I start scrolling through posts and before you know it, an hour or more has passed! And I KNOW that is partly why I have trouble sleeping at night! Does that stop me? Heck no!

Good morning everyone Happy Friday Anick your zinnias sound very nice I think when I get to Florida will plant pretty flowers by my new place Laura I am that Di has to say things to make feel feel so down I guess it hurt more since I was already in a mood with missing Ward on his birthday but I try to let the rude things they say to me wash over my shoulder but deep down it hurts. Good idea to pull out the snuffle mats and puzzles. Carol I so agree with you friends are suppose to build you up and support you not put you down for something you do so I consider them casual friends who just want me for playing games would not consider them dear friends like my friend Mare and Bob who always try to encourage me and to get me to laugh when they call to see how I am doing. Lisa I am on facebook mostly in the morning when posting in my groups and to see what family is doing then playing some brain games like Words with Friends, Word Chums Words Connect I don't really consider Di & Rosemarie good friends like I used to back when I went to Mandy's funeral and Di got so upset with me cause I could not get her grandson from school my attitude towards them as friends changed drastically beginning to see I am just someone to play games with and take her mom to the store. Yesterday when she wanted to go to Walmart I usually take her to the closest one in Ft Wright but she was complaining that Walmart doesn't have the things she wanted and Di said that Walmart is not good at all so I changed my mind took her to the Florence one she got most of what she wanted and a lot of groceries so I am hoping she does not want to go grocery shopping on Saturday at Krogers. She immediately said in the car she was hungry and thirsty I told her you will have to wait taking you straight home as you have refrigerated food in the car if we stop now and service is slow the car gets hot closed up. Then later she mentioned she needs to give me gas money but she didn't. It is usually after we shop we get food and she buys my lunch figuring that pays for the trip. Krogers is right close by and she usually as coupons buy one get one free and we order that. Now she was discussing in the car she had to call Alice the 104 year old friend see if she has 4 chairs so we can pick up Peggy another Senior member and go visit Alice at her house since her grandson doesn't want us in the house he works from home we have to pick a nice day to sit outside. She doesn't ask she just tells me this is what we are going to do. I am so looking forward to moving to Florida. Hugs, Dee, Tori and Dallas

Carol, I agree. People can be such a pain sometimes. I will wish dogs a happy birthday on FB, and I doubt they are reading those messages, but I still enjoy doing it and I hope it makes the pet parents happy, too. And for those (pets or people) who have passed on it is a way to honor them and show your love. I also agree that some pets just have a way of connecting with you on a deeper level. Lisa, Pippi often amazes me on how well she does with her vision loss. There are days I think she must be seeing more than I thought. Then other days where I think nope, her vision is about gone. I'm guessing it's easy to think the vision loss isn't as bad because she adapts so well. If only people could adapt as easily as dogs seem to. It is hard to watch them decline. With hearing and vision gone (or greatly diminished) it would be hard not to slip off into your own world I think. That's why I need to do more to find ways to still engage Pippi and her mind even though she may not be able to see well. I often think of a black lab we had when I was a child. I think I would like to have a lab again some day. Ouch for the patron. Hmm. I haven't been getting any notifications for the bark and wood thread. I figured no one had been posting there for quite a while now. I do the games on FB to try and help clear my mind sometimes so I can hopefully sleep better. Dee I'm glad you can let the thoughtless comments go while you are there. I have one friend that always tells me to just let things go when they bother me. Some days I want to smack him or say gee, I never thought of that. If I found it that easy I would have already done that. I'm sure when August gets here you will find a nice home in FL and you can move on. It would be nice if Rosemarie would check with you on the plans she makes. I'd be tempted to say from time to time sorry that doesn't work for me. Anyway, hope you have a nice day to sit out and visit with Alice and Peggy. I'm sure it will be nice to catch up with them. I got the dogs out for a little walk yesterday. Cheeky made it almost a third of a mile and then rode the rest of the way. As soon as her breathing starts looking the least bit heavier I pick her up and she rides the rest of the way. Pippi made it pretty well. She was breathing harder towards the end - I went a little further yesterday. Then it seems to take her a long time to get back to normal breathing once we get home. I think we all enjoyed a little fresh air though. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)

Good afternoon everyone!! Laura, you may want to check that you still have the bark and woof thread bookmarked! Ithink I had one come undone once and it was a while before I discovered it. I'm glad Pippi does so well. I really do think dogs adapt much more easily that humans do. Leslie ( UsurpingToby) you MUST make sure you make it over to the Field trip thread!! I'm sitting here at my desk and I have your book checked out! Enjoying it all over again!! Dee, I know you don't want to create waves, but you really should stand up for yourself more! Just TELL them that you are really not up to going to Kroger's today. Or whatever it may be. Laura, I really need to get Clarabelle leash trained! I know we would both love and benefit from some walks!!

Geordie is looking over my shoulder laughing. He is saying he wishes he could have sent Toby to live with polar bears while he was still alive.
Lisa, so happy to hear you are reading Dream Our World again. Hope it is as entertaining the second time around!
Dee, I’m sending encouraging thoughts to help you put those neighborhood ladies in their place. They shouldn’t treat you that way.
It is finally planting season in PA. When I went outside to work, Toby came to “help”. Because of my knees I can’t kneel, I sit on the ground. Toby decided to climb up on my lap and lean over my legs so he could dig in the dirt with his front paws. Guess where all the dug dirt went? Yup, I’m wearing it! Now I’m off to get a shower while Stinky Monster sleeps on my overalls.

Good morning everyone Happy Saturday Leslie I know they should not treat me that way I am a meek and mild person and it just builds till one day I will bust. Besides they have an answer for anything you reply back to them. I had to chuckle imaging Toby in your lap in the garden digging and all the dirt on you; Lisa you are correct but I just can't bring myself to saying something when I am in another persons home. Di mentioned yesterday she feels like she can['t sit and enjoy her lunch on Saturday hurrying back to her house to play games I replied you don't need to hurry stay till you are ready. I said I took Rosemarie shopping Thursday so she does not need to go Saturday you take your time then call when you are home and ready don't rush on my accord. Laura Rosemarie hasn't made the plans yet for Alice and Peggy but before then maybe the senior center will open Di said on the news last night they were told no more masks inside so she is thinking the senior center will open soon. Rosemarie doesn't check with me for anything she just comes out and says this is what we are doing and from me saying last week that I had other plans for Thursday then they came back with the rude remarks. My nephew comes Memorial Day weekend with his family and I will have a 4 day break from Rosemarie. Can't wait to see them. You are so right it is hard to watch our fur babies decline. Anick are you busy with agility Ginger how are you doing today Annette how are you and Bertie Carol are you and Pooks enjoying the nice weather you are getting Hugs Dee, Tori & Dallas

Lisa, I did check and it was still book marked. The good news is it does look like I have notifications for that thread today. Not sure what happened there. I need to walk more often. And I need to figure out a way to start with an empty stroller and dogs on leash and add dogs to the stroller as they need it so I can walk further. Or I need to get out and walk without them so I can go further, but I can't bring myself to do that. I'd rather walk with someone. People or dog or whatever. But I know Pip is not up for longer than we are doing, and she's a little too heavy for me to carry far. I do have a dog stroller, but I think it would be difficult to push it while Pip was walking on leash. She sometimes zig zags down the sidewalk. I miss the dog walking group that was active years ago. Well, the group when we first started walking with them. Later years it morphed into something else that wasn't a good fit any more - larger dogs that were out of control and running over and rolling smaller dogs. When we first started the leader at the time was good to make sure people had their dogs under control or back on leash, and she didn't put up with smaller dogs getting hurt. We had dogs of all sizes and they got on well. Leslie, I can only imagine Toby on your lap digging in the garden. I wish someone had taken a video of that. hehe. I suspect none of the green bean seeds I planted outside made it. I had two sprouts one day and then they were gone the next. I have one lonely spout coming up in the pot on the sunporch. Maybe it will make it. I had planted several seeds in that pot, but so far no sign of any of the others. Dee, that is nice that your nephew is coming for Memorial Day. Something to look forward to - both for seeing him and for getting a break. Where does he live? I think you have said before, but I can't remember. I got out and did more in the yard than I had intended to. Thought I would pull up a few weeds I had seen, but I kept seeing more. Then I got out clippers and loppers and battled the honeysuckle some more and got rid of some dead branches. Also got rid of some small trees coming up in places I just don't need a tree. I was tired and sore and needed another shower by the time I was done. The honeysuckle smelled so nice, but it takes over everything so quickly. I try to keep it confined to just some areas. I'm allergic to it though, so hard for me to work around it much. And then the allergies are stirred up for a few days. I should do more, but will probably take the weekend off from it. - Laura (Pippi, Cheeky, Inky and Nimbus)
